On the 911 terrorist attack on US

At 9 o・clock, on September twelfth, when seeing the news which said two civil aviations thrust into the World Trade Center on television, at first I didn・t take this news very seriously and thought this event was purely an accident. However, about one hour later, the third civil aviation burst into the Pentagon, the United States Department of Defense, circumstances seemed to become much graver and more complicated than I could imagine.

Gradually, aerostatic casualties turned into terrorist attacks. Plenty evidences revealed that terrorists hijacked these civil aviations, made them change their courses, and resulted in the happening of these miserable events. The United States Government proclaimed that all domestic and international airports were closed for security issue, and every civil aviation which・s aim was any city of America would return to the place of departure or land at airports in Canada. At this mean time, no one could enter America via air, and nobody could deviate from America as well.

Although Federal Bureau of Investigation had announced that all these mishaps were planned by a Moslem who is called Osama bin Laden, a frenzied fundamentalist. For me, it is still difficult to believe that a person would engineer such terrible things just in order to prove his belief of Islam and hatreds toward the United States. Hence, I couldn・t help wondering why a person would hate some specific countries so deeply.

Many occidental politicians repeatedly indicated that there has been no discord between Occident and Islam, but as a matter of fact, over one thousand and four hundred years, Christians and Muslims have never got along with each other well. Jerusalem, the origin of Islam and Christianity, is the major cause of these strifes between Christians and Muslims. In order to recapture their : Sacred Place;, each people tried their best to fight heretics. Besides, numerous Islamic fundamentalists and extremists kept thinking that the decline of Islamic culture and Muslim countries was due to western imperialism and capitalism. That・s why Osama bin Laden and other extremist tried to undergo: holy war; in such a terrible way.

In addition to historic grudges, several years ago the United States raid the assembly of leaders of Islamic anti-western groups in Afghanistan with more than forty cruise missles. That night attack caused several death, but Osama bin Laden just got slight wounds. At that time Osama bin Laden swore that he would revenge. These strifes between America and terrorists match with an old saying which goes: Reprisal breeds reprisal;.

Indeed, like the English article I read two weeks ago said, it would be a great mistake to see Osama bin Laden as the representative of all Muslims. I still have no doubt that there are plenty Muslim people who think or even act like Osama bin Laden in the world. In our opinion, we thought those Islamic terrorists are unrelenting and crazy, but in some frenzied Arabic societies, those terrorists are considered as national heroes and everybody respects them. Those terrorists believe, after devoting themselves to their countries, they may go to the paradise to be with God, and their families will be well-arranged. That・s why they have no fear for death. Hence, one human bomber created a hero of one people, but increased one more Satan in the world at the same time.

In the 911 terrorists attack, terrorists destroyed buildings which were the symbol of economy and military, people started to realize that the situation of international peace is just a false appearance. However, even though those edifices no longer exist, the political and military structures of the United States are still firm and solid. Maybe this disaster crashed American・s dream of hegemony, but the super position of the United States was consolidated.

Besides, this significant event made nations realize the dread of neo terrorism, so they supported the United States to punish terrorists who should be responsible for this attack, and the United States would change its international and local strategies as well in order to prevent itself from becoming the target of another suicide terrorist attack again.

Nevertheless, the war between occidental countries and terrorism may take a long time, especially the economic and military sanctions toward countries supporting terrorism indirectly. In addition, it will be an unbalanced campaign, and the United States needs to face new circumstances of war, because highly-developed technology couldn・t stop suicide terrorist attacks, and the definition of national security will updated.

To conclude, although the 911 terrorist attack collapsed the twin tower and more than seven thousand people were missing or dead in that casualty, but the United States was not defeated. American people gradually overcame mourning and haze which the 911 terrorist attack bring to them. Nevertheless, the strife between Muslim extremists and occidental countries still persists. Will there be another massive terrorist attack? No one would say the answer is : no; affirmatively. Maybe if Occident and Islamic people couldn・t get along with each other peacefully, there won・t be true peace in the world eventually.
