Kayaking.....6th
February 2002....seemed like the appropriate thing to do on
Waitangi Day...
K...so yesterday in honor of it being Waitangi Day and along the kinda theme of paddling a canoe down the river, a few of us from work went kayaking. Weather turned out ok and we set out from Cambridge about 11.15 am. Got into Hamilton (26kms later) at about 3.30pm. It was a good paddle, entirely uneventful and no one even got wet (although Scott deserved to). In fact Scott's ability with a paddle on water far outways his unco-ordinated land habits. Felt tired but OK when hit the shore, although it took both Trish and John to de-kayak me....energy levels were at an all time low by this point. Got home, intending to sleep but unfortunately my body rejected the exercise with a vengence and I spent the next 8 hours or so in agony as my arms started to spasm with the delayed reaction of being used for more than directing my hands to my mouth with food. I turned the house upside down looking for drugs..but the place was bare, so resorted to a couple of panadol, which hit the spot in 1/2 hour and finally got to sleep after 12am *sigh* so much for an early night. Observation from the trip: Trish eats as much on sea as she does on land.
