Radiohead fans will soon be able to have information on the revered U.K. rock act delivered to them directly online, thanks to a new promotion between Capitol Records and Active Buddy Inc. The "instant message" campaign comes as part of the promotion efforts for Radiohead's forthcoming album, "Amnesiac," due June 5 in North America.

According to Capitol, "the Radiohead agent will be the most thorough and comprehensive source online and offline for accessing exclusive information and services related to the band and to the album."

The instant messaging "agent," accessible through an entry in the user's "buddy list," will be able to respond to questions and information requests about the band, including tour dates, biographies, Web site links, and "Amnesiac"-related queries. Radiohead fans are being asked to provide suggestions for additional content.

FMA reports:

Radiohead was mentioned in a Globe and Mail article titled "The new face
of protest": "First the Beastie Boys managed to reinvent
consciousness-raising with their Free Tibet events. Then one of the
world's most popular bands, England's Radiohead, aligned itself with
antiglobalization, declaring its tour tent an ad-free zone and praising
Toronto writer Naomi Klein's movement tome, No Logo. They even considered borrowing Klein's title for their latest album, Kid A, where singer Thom Yorke's information-age anxiety loops out into fractured vistas of
"post-rock" sound." Read the full article here.

Stanley came by the official board on Sunday and said he hoped to have the
new site up by June 5th.

Penelope Cruz (actress) talked about 'Kid A' in an interview at
telegraph.co.uk: "When she talks about her current favourite CD for
example, Kid A by Radiohead, I swear she almost starts to cry. 'When I
figured out the lyrics in that first song - you know the one I mean about
waking up sucking a lemon? It just hurt me so much. I don't know what
happened to the guy who wrote that song, but I was going through a
difficult time in my life at the time when I heard it, and now,' she
solemnly crosses the fingers of both hands and twists her wrists, 'I have
something like a bond with that record. I am obsessed with it.'"

Here's some more information about the New York University Amnesiac playback we reported to you on April 11th. Due to lack of seating, the playback is open to NYU students only. You will need to show your NYU ID to get in.

There are rumors around that radio stations across the US and Canada will start doing their own playbacks for Amnesiac like they did for Kid A last Fall.

Radio stations around the country have started playing some of the Amnesiac songs, such as Pyramid Song, I Might Be Wrong, and Packt Like Sardines In A Crushd Tin Box. Keep an ear out while listening to the radio and you might catch one of Radiohead's new songs!

Happy 33rd Birthday, Ed!

Radiohead Live at the 10 Spot was featured on M2 tonight thanks to the voters out there. It was   great  to see Subterranean Homesick Alien played live! Too many commercials though.

From FMA:

Thom was mentioned and quoted in an article on REM in yesterday's Guardian Newspaper. The excerpt reads: "Stipe's close friend, Thom Yorke, the equally enigmatic leader of Radiohead and someone who has had his own troubles adjusting to the role of contmporary pop icon, provides a clue as to how Stipe has managed this feat. "Michael loves all the glamour of pop stardom, but in a mad way. He has fun with the absurdity of it all. He really manages to negotiate the whole thing in such a cool way. When I was close to that whole-rockstar- losing- his- marbles stage, he was so generous and protective. I'm okay with it all now and, to tell you the truth, a lot of that is down to him. He looks out for you. That's rare in a business where you meet so many fawning reptiles it just gets fucking depressing most of the time."

Paul Lansky, the guy whose music was sampled in 'Idioteque', posted on the alt.music.radiohead newsgroup yesterday:

"I have a new CD, called RIDE, on Bridge Records.  The title piece, Ride
is a new take on my older piece, Night Traffic, which Jonny and Colin
played on the BBC Mixing It show.   Until April 30, Bridge has a sale on all
my CDs, including Homebrew, which has Night Traffic on it, for $10.99,
with free shipping in the US and Canada.  (International costs a bit more.)"

MTV2 in the US is having an All Request Weekend from April 14 - 15 and is
hosting a vote for what concert they play. Radiohead Live At The 10 Spot
is one of the choices. Go to mtv.com to vote.

Chart Attack is reporting that Radiohead will be touring Canada this
summer. This news is coming from Riley O'Connor, House Of Blues Concerts
Canada senior Vice President. When asked if the band is going to bring
their tent, O'Connor said, "That's a European tent they got. There are a
lot of hurdles as far as fire code and engineering that they would have to
get through before they start bringing it [their tent] to North America.
It's a whole other reality, so they're just going to do outdoor live
shows."
[ thank you FMA for the above information ]

Sparklehorse were joined by a special guest DJ as they began a run of three low-key London shows last night (April 9) - Radiohead's Colin Greenwood
The bassist span tunes between support act Matthew Jay and the cult US band at the tiny Borderline club - and he'll be joined tonight (April 10) behind the wheels of steel by brother Jonny, before manning the decks himself again at the final show on Wednesday (April 11).

Thom made a post on the official board. When asked about the b-sides that would be released with the Amnesiac singles, he listed the following:

Orgy
Trans_Atlantic Drawl
Fast_Track
Kinetic

Thom was also asked what his favorite song on the new album was and he said, "you and whose army? coz it was fun to play and totally relaxed and the song wrote itself and i love colins double bass on it. or i might be wrong. because its sounds like the stones that it came out of. its a song that was always there waiting."

On June 12th Cleopatra Records will release a tribute CD to the band titled "Anyone Can Play Radiohead". For the tracklisting and more info, go to cleorecs.com.

"Not planned, no, but talked about fondly by us all but then, we don't plan ahead anymore much."

"He learnt it backwards, sung it like that then we turned the tape around, so you can hear the words. A real answer !!!"
[thanks beryl]

The NME 'Amnesiac' review has been added to the LP5 page.

'Pyramid Song' will be released in the UK (CD1/CD2), Canada, Australia and Japan (one CD) around May 21st. Three brand new tracks will be released on the single. The UK CD1/CD2 combination will have four tracks spread across it. Two videos have been shot for 'Pyramid Song', one by Chris Bran and the Vapour Brothers and the other by Shynola (who both collaborated with Stanley Donwood on the Kid A 'blips'). Both videos were made separately from each other. The Vapour Bros. video will be shown on the more 'mainstream' music TV channels, while the Shynola one is going to appear on the more 'alternative' ones.
The single 'I Might Be Wrong' will be the first release to American radio on May 1st.

There's a review of Amnesiac at Canada Press. [thanks Beryl]

I've read that 'Packt Like Sardines In A Crushd Tin Box' is available on Napster. After downloading one of them, it was not the same song because the one on Napster has no lyrics and is just a guitar/violing song. I've downloaded another one and that one is also not the real one. Maybe I have fallen to the wrong circulation? Any ideas? Please write me.
