CUTW: Stanley was kind enough to agree to an interview conducted via email. He talks here about his art, the "new sound" for Radiohead and his influences.[thanks CUTW]
Radiohead was named Band of the Year in the current issue of Spin magazine. Kid A was named runner-up for Album of the Year. The number one album was awarded to computer hard drives and the mp3s that fill them.
It was revealed on yesterday's show that there will be a Radiohead Session on Lamacq Live on the week starting Monday December 11th. The band will be playing some songs and maybe revealing some new songs. (more on that from NME, scroll down.)
There will also be a "Radiohead Christmas Special" on Lamacq Live. Nothing was revealed about this apart from "it will involve you, the listeners".
[Thanks GP for the last three]
Radiohead have recorded four tracks, including a radically reworked version of 'National Anthem', for a rare session set for broadcast in little over a week on BBC Radio 1.
The band recorded 'Everything In Its Right Place', 'How to Disappear Completely', 'Idioteque' and 'National Anthem' in their own studios in their hometown of Oxford this week. The tracks will be broadcast, one a night, on Steve Lamacq's Evening Session show starting on Monday, December 11. Aside from the brass band brought in to rejig 'National Anthem', all of the tracks, lifted from this year's chart-topping 'Kid A', are understood to have been to some extent reinterpreted.
In addition, the entire band will be interviewed at length for the show the following week. They will be in conversation with Lamacq on Wednesday December 20, talking about their year and fielding questions, many of which come directly from fans.

SHA will not be updated as frequently as usual for the next week or so do to an illness the webmaster has been faced with.
DotMusic: Thom and co will mix a live set for the BBC's 'Breezeblock' show in December.
Here's some in-depth info from NME.com:
"Radiohead will be mixing a live set on RADIO 1 in December. The band will be mixing a show for Radio 1's midnight Breezeblock show on December 11. Radiohead will be mixing the records at home in Oxford for Mary-Anne Hobbs's eclectic programme, transmitting the live mix via ISDN line to the BBC. Radiohead have already had plenty of practice mixing shows - prior to the release of 'Kid A' they played three unannounced webcasts which included songs by artists as diverse as The Fall, John Barry and Squarepusher.
The news was revealed on the Mary-Anne Hobbs show a few moments ago (00:30am) following a build-up throughout the day that there would be a special announcement on tonight's show. Stay tuned for a Radiohead exclusive interview on NME.COM today (Tuesday 21 November 2000) where we will unveil some exciting news."
"Radiohead plan to release their follow-up to 'KID A' in March or April, 2001, preceded by a single.Speaking exclusively to NME.COM last week, bassist Colin Greenwood said the band were already recording more new material, but that they planned to take Christmas off. Of the new, as yet untitled album, Greenwood said: "We've got to sort it out! But we're very happy about it, really excited. "(It'll be out in) March/April time maybe. We don't know yet but we want it to come out then. We've got enough music." He explained that some of the songs destined for the new album had emerged during recording sessions for 'Kid A', but that most were completely new. "This is really more things again," he continued: "(We're) keeping it going, y'know, not be like a boring rock band and do an album every two years." He also said he was "very happy" about the success of 'Kid A' in the US - but said the band felt partly to blame about the mixed critical reaction in UK press in that they should have sent promos copies of the album out earlier to let journalists "live" with the album. "I think the one serious regret we have is that we didn't give the record to journalists a longer time away from the release - I think a lot of people are into it now they've lived with it for a while, because it's a great record."
For a full interview with Colin Greenwood about the new Radiohead album, see this week's NME, out in London today (November 21) and nationwide tomorrow (22)."
Roseland MP3s will be up ass soon as i download them all. (yes, with the permission from the owner)

Last night's MTV special, Radiohead in Dublin, was a 30 minute show which of Kid A songs performed at the Dublin gig. The following songs were featured:
The National Anthem
How To Disappear Completely
Idioteque
Optimistic
Although the commercials were almost as long as the show, if not longer, the concert footage was ok and the sound quality not too good. I guess we should not have expected more.
HollywoodandVine.com is hosting songs from live concerts in London. A song will be posted every week. So far listed are Idioteque and Optimistic. Enter here. You must have the Windows Media Player to listen to these songs.

Dunst, from the band Chumbawamba, has posted the following on their official website:
"What was all the fuss about? Having read about the twentieth interview with Thom Yorke [even though they keep on saying that they were only doing three interviews worldwide for this album] I was expecting some challenging, difficult soundscape that would force me to go to the toilet after three songs and on returning my ears would bleed and my head explode. No chance I'm afraid. I do actually like this album and it's quite an interesting place - three feet up Thom's arse - but they'll be poring over this at the local prog-rock-soc and that disturbs me." Then he adds that he's been reading interviews with Thom Yorke and responds, "He watched Big Brother but didn't like to admit it."
Some of you may remember that the Toronto gig from October 17th was supposed to be archived at Virtuecast for a week beginning November 2nd. This hasn't happened yet due to a licensing issue that still needs to be resolved. It's unknown when the webcast will be up, if at all. Keep checking this page. [thanks FMA]

Kid A:
Andy Hart asks: Now Arnold are on Poptones, do you expect any other ex-Creation artists to follow?
Alan: we're going to sign trashmonk, who's going to make a 25-minute piece of electronic noise music called 'office hours', like 'kid a', but good. Read the rest here.

Press:
A remix by Paul Oakenfold of the Radiohead song 'Street Spirit (fade out)' may never see the light of day after the band decided to block it from release.
The DJ, who is one of the most famous remixers in the world having worked with U2 and Massive Attack, as well as co-producing the seminal Happy Mondays album 'Pills & Thrills And Bellyaches', reworked the track from Radiohead's second album 'The Bends' for use while DJing. However, when Oakenfold approached the group for permission to put the track on a compilation album, he was refused.
Oakenfold reportedly told Irish online magazine www.oceanfree.net: "We were going to release that on 'Planet Perfecto', but unfortunately the band Radiohead, as far as I'm concerned, don't like dance music so they wouldn't allow us to do it. They would have got the publishing money obviously because it is their song. It will now never be released."
He continued: "I like the challenge of taking a track and making it work in a different way. It's always the purists who don't like it. They're always moaning, the purists, you can never keep the anoraks happy."
A spokesperson for Radiohead was unable to comment on the remix.
Although not allowing Oakenfold to use the reworked track, Radiohead have been remixed before. Their single 'Planet Telex' was backed by a remix of the title track by LFO, while their 'Karma Police' single featured remixes of their 'OK Computer' album track 'Climbing Up The Walls' by Fila Brazilia. GP.com: Last night on the Conan O'Brien show, Conan did his usual shtick of pulling a husband and wife out of the audience and playing a song on guitar for them. It always turns dark and hilarious-- last night it was a song about a 15 keg party at the husband's place that he funded with a loan from the mob. Conan said he can't pay them back, so they'll break his legs. The mob comes in and grabs him and the wife is shocked. So Conan, holding the guitar, asks, "So, do you like Radiohead? Ever heard of Creep?" Then he starts playing it for her. Just a quick intro and sings it. Only got about 15 seconds before commercial. [thanks gp]
