Another Maybe
It was dark where he sat, the windows were shut,
It was cold where he lay, he needed her so much.
He saw her face, her eyes lit up the room,
He heard her voice, but silence took over too soon.
In his dreams he traveled far and wide,
In his dreams, he crossed the great divide.
In his heart, he felt the pain of longing,
In his soul, he felt the need of belonging.
Into the night, of secret desires and forgotten hope,
Too tired to fight, unable to cope.
It’s been a while since he saw the light of day,
It’s been a while, and nothings going to change today.
The same old story, a broken man,
The same old story, another land.
Of promises that were to be kept, but weren’t,
Of things that could have happened differently, but didn’t.
Maybe one day he says, things will change,
Maybe one day, it all won’t seem so strange.
His life was too short, to go through without living,
His love was too much, to waste it without giving.
And if all goes well, the roses will start to bloom,
Maybe one day. Maybe one day soon.
