college rock, ma

less than 45 minutes north of providence, off 495 in hopkington, is a nice 40 ft tall crag with a number of excellent climbs.  easy to get to, off street parking for 4 or 5 cars and easy top-rope set up.

to get there from providence, take 95 north to 495.  495 north to route 85, hopkington.  take 85 North to college street.  take a right on college street and the parking is in the woods on the right, less than half a mile.  there are houses on the left.  the crag is steps away on the trail into the woods.

from the left side of the picture you can see
don't know much about biology (5.7)
not on my face you don't (5.8)
don't stop till you se the whites of their eyes (5.9)
just past the rock at the bottom would be a couple of 5.9 or 5.10s going up to the dark fissure in the middle of the wall
the rope is on the militant right (5.9) just past the dark streak
and finally theres some 5.11 face climbs on the smooth section.
the wall continues around the corner with a number of 5.9-5.11 routes then another break in the wall and it drops to some 5.7-5.8 routes.

or at least that's where i think the routes are looking at the picture.  get boston rocks and go there!  it'll make more sense.

this is the third tallest wall that i've been to within an hour of providence, with ross rocks being the tallest.  don't miss it!
