Underground he finds a half buried long bone, and reports his finding to the manager of the pizzeria. Acting as amateur sleuths, they go to the library only to realize they have found a human bone. The police are called in.

After an excavation in the basement, bones from three young girls were found, the question is; how old are the bones? Before the bones are even dated, strange things begin to happen; broken telephone calls from a women who use to live near the building presently housing the pizzeria, a break-in at Temperance’s apartment; the mysterious caller identified at the morgue!

This is a fast read. Excellent keep you going plot.

Bare Bones

Date of release: 2003

Once again writer and Forensic Anthropologist Kathy Reichs has brought life and adventure to her fictional self; Dr. Temperance Brennan in Bare Bones. Finally, after reading through several of the Temperance Brennan series, Dr. Brennan has done the dirty deed with her Canadian counterpart, police detective Andrew Ryan.

Of course, it takes a schedule vacation, together, for the two finally to get it together in their relationship. Although their vacation did not go off without a hitch, the day before their vacation is to start Dr. Brennan’s dog sitting days lead to her stumbling over some bones in the woods. Unfortunately for Dr. Brennan, the bones are a little more than headless, pawless bear bones.

These bones are mixed with a few human bones, which end up tying in with baby bones found in a wood stove; a headless skeleton found a few years back, some missing agents, and the grim reaper who seems to have Temperance in his cross hairs [literally].

Absolute mayhem finally comes together in a meaningful way. Again, this is a must read. It is a fast read, a cannot wait to turn the page novel.
