Chapter two
The fox cub, a little confused, looked to where Big Mama had left. |
In a nearby tree, Boomer, a woodpecker, was busily drilling a hole into the
trunk. Dinky, a sparrow and his friend, watched intently. |
Dinky: Good work, Boomer. We've got 'im this time. |
Dinky struggled to get a better look as Boomer leaned in closer. |
Dinky: Shh. I think he's in there. |
Big Mama landed next to them on the branch.
Big Mama: Whew. Am I glad I found you boys! |
Big Mama: There's no time to lose. I need your help. Now come on. Come
on! |
Dinky: Let's go, Boomer! Come on! |
Boomer: Well, yeah, but but but. . . Aw shucks! |
Boomer followed the rest of the gang. |
A small caterpillar appeared from the hole, looked about nervously, then
breathed a sigh of relief once he saw that they had left. |
