The Australian Rent Awards!

Damien Aylward received the "ARE YOU SURE YOU AREN'T RODGER CORSER" for being able to make even the most avid RENThead have to look twice to see if it was Rodger or not!

Gavin D. Andrew received the "MOST CHARISMATIC CAST MEMBER" as we all absolutely loved chatting to him outside of the show!

Christine Anu without much suprise and doubt on this one won the "BEST FEMALE SINGER" award.

Miguel Ayesa won the "MOST MISSED SINCE LEAVING THE SHOW" award. In fact he won this one hands down... he was greatly greatly missed!

Natalie Bassingthwaighte won the "BEST DRESSED OUTSIDE THE SHOW" award... with special mention going to her Wonder Woman Outfit!!!

Fiona Choi won the "BEST FACIAL EXPRESSIONS" award, especially when she played Alexi Darling. She had us all in fits of laughter!

Rodger Corser won "BEST LOOKING MALE" for obvious reasons!

Annie Crummer won "BEST UNDERSTUDY" for her role as Joanne!

Genevieve Davis won "THE LEAST SEEN PERFORMING, AND VERY SADLY MISSED" as Gen was often out with an illness throughout the season. We love you GEN and missed you when you weren't with us!

Mark Richard Ford got a few. Firstly he won "BEST MALE SINGER" which was no surprise as he gave us all tingles up our spines when he sang. He also won "MOST TOUCHING PERFORMER" for his rendition of "I'll Cover You Reprise" it made even the hardest hearted person have tears in their eyes!

Fred Jones won the "BEST BLOOPER" (see the bloopers page) and also the "MOST CONSISTANT CAST MEMBER" for hardly missing a show!

Kurt Kansley won the "WE WISH WE'D SEEN YOU ON STAGE MORE" since we only saw him a few times. He joined the cast very late in the season, and it's a real shame cos' he was a CLASSIC!

Matthew Lee won the "MOST FUN TO WATCH" for his role as the Waiter. We couldn't keep our eyes off of him he was so funny!

Cecilia Lowe won "BEST HAIR STYLE" for her spikey pink hair! If we all had the guts, we'd be running to the hairdresses and asking for the "Cecilia Cut"!

Peter Murphy won "BEST SWING" because he was a great swing!!!!!!!

Clifton Oliver won "BEST CHARACTER" for the way he portrayed his "La Vie Boheme" Character. He had us all in stitches!

Thern Reynolds won "BEST DANCER" which is no surprise considering he was the dance captain!

Opell Ross won so many it just isn't funny. Let's see. "FRIENDLIEST CAST MEMBER" because he always has time for fans! "MOST MEMORABLE" for his role as ANGEL. And last but certainly not least "MOST LIKELY TO MAKE IT IN THIS INDUSTRY"... and we hope his single 'Our Place' does make it!

Justin Smith won "BEST ACTOR" for his role as Mark.

Michelle Smith won "BEST ACTRESS" for her performance as Maureen!

Prinnie Stevens won "BEST LOOKING FEMALE" which speaks for itself. Prinnie you are gorgeous. Love the new hair cut!

Jonathan Stuart won "MOST OPTIMISTIC CAST MEMBER" as he always spoke nice words about everyone's performance, even on a bad nite!

Troy Woodcroft won "BEST COSTUME" because he looked great in the Peko Shirt!!!!


WHAT ARE THE GOLDEN CANDLE AWARDS? The Aussie RENT Awards was just a little idea that Alana and I came up with one night, while we were chatting. We thought "We'll make some awards and get people to vote for cast members, and then we'll give them a certificate that they can keep!" Not expecting that it would take off, I posted this to the RENT-Australia e-mail group...and much to my surprise... it took off! So many people voted, (in the end about 30 people!) and it was truly amazing! According to Opell too, the cast really appreciated them! Below are the results!

THE ENCOURAGEMENT AWARD This was awarded to the person we all felt needed the most encouragement to keep going in this industry. It went to a person who was badly under-cast and with a voice like theirs needs to take it further! We hope that this person will continue with their singing career as we're sure they'll have a fantastic career ahead of them. The winner of the Encouragement Award (who also received a Silver Candle) is... PRINNIE STEVENS!!!!! Yay Prinnie!!! We Love you!!!	THE GOLDEN CANDLE!!!! This was the biggie... the overall best cast member. It was very very close. But in the end... the winner was... JUSTIN SMITH!!!!!!!!!!! Justin was professional in every way possible. He deserved this award and we wish him well as he makes his movie!
