Bust-A-Move '99 Game by Acclaim Reviewed by Robby Cox koi@magicnet.net Save: Controller Pak(only for Edit Mode puzzles) Released: 1999 Works with: Rumble Pak, Controller Pak **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: I had always wanted a Bust-A-Move game, but I had only seen one once. Anyways, I found this one brand new, the week of it's release for $39.99. So I had to jump on it. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: Bust-A-Move is a puzzle game where you have to clear the screen of bubbles by matching up 3 bubbles. You match them up by finding at least 2 connected or can be connected bubbles, then shooting these bubbles with the matching bubble from your little bubble-gum thingy at the bottom of the screen. What makes this game really unique is that to make certain matches you will have to bounce bubbles off of the walls. There are several different modes of play which include Arcade Mode(this includes Vs. Player, Vs. CPU, and Puzzle), Challenge Mode, Win Contest Mode, Collection Mode(which includes over 1,000 puzzles constructed by BAM fans), Edit Mode(where you can create your own puzzles), and Multiplayer Mode(where you can play 4 players). There's almost too much stuff here. You definitely get your money's worth. Liked: So many game modes. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: BAM '99 has pretty good graphics. The graphics are basically 2-D sprites, but they more than get the job done. The graphics are colorful and are rather unique looking. Liked: Colorful graphics. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: BAM '99 has some pretty cool music. There's one problem with it though. The songs are probably only like 45 seconds in length. When they finish playing, there's a noticeable silence for like 5 seconds, then it finally starts again. The sound fx are great. There's a pretty good bit of voice and it's crytal clear. Liked: Good sound fx. Hated: Songs aren't long enough. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: BAM '99 controls like a dream. The controls are super simple and are very responsive. The game design is perfection. There are so many modes of play that I doubt that I ever see all of the things that make up this game. My only problem with anything in this game, is that you can't save a game in progress and come back to it. You also can't save your high scores. Liked: Perfect controls. Hated: You can't save your game in progress or high scores. **************************************************************************** Improve: Add savings of high scores and games in progress. RIYL: Bust-A-Move series, Tetris Attack, Tetrisphere **************************************************************************** Final Words: Bust-A-Move '99 is an amazing game that is definitely worth the $39.99 asking price. You should stop reading this review and run to the store and buy this game. Okay, maybe you should wait until you have the money to buy this game. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: ***** Graphics: **** Sound/Music: **** Play Control/Game Design: ***** Personal Opinion: ***** Total: 23 out of 25 Final Score: 92 % **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None.
