Big Bass World Championship Game by Hot-B Reviewed by Robby Cox koi@magicnet.net Save: Memory Card Released: 1996 Works with: Memory Card **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: I love fishing games. I used to go fishing quite a bit. I was never all that great at it, but I had fun going. Anyways, I found this game for $20 at Wal-Mart, so I bought it. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Description: Big Bass World Chamionship is set up like your standard fishing game. It is basically a tournament bass game. You fish in a series of one-day 7AM-4:30PM tournaments. The winner is decided by the biggest 5- bass limit. Only black bass count, but yet there are spotted bass?!? Anyways, during the tournament you are in total control. You control what lure you use, where you fish, how you fish, and you even get to drive your bass boat around. If you don't get back to the docks by weigh-in you will be penalized. This is really cool. Too bad that fighting the fish sucks. This is no fun. The fish don't respond very reallistically and when you get one on the hook, it looks like it is swimming away. You will be reeling in the fish and it will look like it has gotten away, but it's still there. It's also way too easy to break you line by throwing your lure into brush. If you can win 3 tournaments, you get a chance to fish against fishing legend Hank Parker. That's cool, but the 3rd tourny is really hard. You can also fish in a private lake to just have fun and relax. Liked: Great tournament aspects. Hated: Fighting a fish sucks! **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: The graphics are not very good. The landscapes are made up of polygons, but there are insane amounts of pop-up. You will be driving your boat around and all of a sudden hit the shore. The in-game fish graphics are horrible. They are flat 2-D spirtes that just cirle around and sometimes it is extremely obvious that they are sprites. The rest of the graphics are okay, but are far from impressive. Liked: Nothing. Hated: Poor graphics. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: The music is okay, but there's not much of it. The sound fx are pretty good. There are lots of cool sound fx like birds and rushing water. Liked: Great sound fx. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: The controls are okay, but they are a little confusing at first. The game design is okay, but this game gets too hard too fast. Liked: Okay controls. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Improve: Less confusing controls, better graphics. RIYL: Reel Fishing, Black Bass Lure Fishing, those Radica handheld fishing games like Bass Fishing and my personal favorite Lunker Bass Fishing. **************************************************************************** Final Words: Big Bass World Championship is only worth a purchase if you already own Reel Fishing. Otherwise, but that game as it is much better than this game and costs the same or less. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: ** Graphics: ** Sound/Music: **** Play Control/Game Design: *** Personal Opinion: ** Total: 13 out of 25 Final Score: 52 % **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None.
