Body Harvest Game by Midway Reviewed by Robby Cox koi@magicnet.net Save: On Cartridge-3 slots Released: 1998 Works with: Rumble Pak **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: Bdoy Harvest was one of the first N64 games in development, but it didn't see the light of day until 1998. After years in development, how good can it be? **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: The plot of Body Harvest has aliens trying to take over the world and harvesting humans. You have to use any and everything that you can find to dispatch the alien scum. You can drive any vehicle that you find. The levels take place in different time periods. So in one level you will be driving a Model-T, while on the next you're driving a Mustang. Liked: Unique gameplay. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: As I stated earlier, Body Harvest was in development for years and it definitely shows. The graphics would have been fine if the game had been released early in the N64's life, but today they look dated compared to games like Banjo-Kazooie and Star Wars: Rogue Squadron. The vehicles resemble their real-life counterparts, which definitely lends this game some credibility. Liked: Cool cars. Hated: Ugly landscapes. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: Body Harvest has some of the best classical music ever in a video game. It is just like the score of a movie, if gets you pumped up when you need to be, and drops off when there's little going on. Thesound fx are very good. The explosions are among the best I've heard. Liked: Awesome music. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: Body Harvest features some great controls. They are perfect when you're in a vehicle, but when you're on foot your character moves too slowly. The game design is good but I have a few small gripes. When you drive your car into the water, the car should take damage, but when you get out of the car you shouldn't. The game also gets too hard too quick. Liked: Great vehicle controls. Hated: You mean it hurts to swim in the water??? **************************************************************************** Improve: Easier difficulty setting, you can swim without taking damage. RIYL: Shockwave 2 (3DO), Shockwave Assault (Playstation) **************************************************************************** Final Words: Body Harvest is a great game. It's one of those games that you will love at first, but once you have played a level for a half an hour and then die, you will despise this game. But after a while you will come back. You will repeat this process for quite a while because this game is so much fun. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: ***** Graphics: *** Sound/Music: ***** Play Control/Game Design: **** Personal Opinion: **** Total: 21 out of 25 Final Score: 84 % ****************************************************************************
