Opening Remarks: Toy Story was the first Disney movie that I liked in ages. Actually, I really thought it was great. Anyways, I wanted to see A Bug's Life, so I bought the DVD of it.

Movie Quality: A Bug's Life is a great film. This movie is a visual masterpiece. This is by far the best looking computer animation ever. This movie makes Antz look like a 2-year old's drawing. Anyways, the script is great. The movie is funny without being overly funny. The jokes aren't so lowbrow that an adult can't enjoy this movie. If you can live with a comedy that's not very jokey, then this movie is right for you. I'm telling you this is a cartoon that grown-ups will enjoy. I must admit that I think I liked Toy Story better, but it doesn't have the visual splendor that this movie does. Overall, this is a great flick.

Video Quality: A Bug's Life is the first DVD to use a direct digital transfer of the film. What this means is that this movie is the clearest movie that you have ever seen. I guarantee it. Everything in this movie is brilliant looking. The colors are bright and there are lots of things happening on screen. Believe me, you will be amazed at the video quality of this disc. Normally I wouldn't bother with the Fullscreen version of a movie, I would much rather watch the Widescreen version, but the Fullscreen version of this movie makes it easier to see all of the details in the backgrounds. Nice job, Disney :)

Sound Quality: The audio quality of this disc is great. The voices are loud and clear. The surround sound is used to great effect. The music is great, as well. Overall, the audio is great.

Extras: This disc has quite a few more extras than most Disney releases. There's the animated short "Geri's Game". This was a short by Pixar that actually won an Oscar. There are also both sets of outtakes that were found in the credits of the original theatrical release of this film. The only slight omission is that there's no theatrical trailer to be found on this disc :(

Improve: Next time include the trailer.

RIYL: Toy Story, Antz, Other Disney animation titles.

Overall Opinion: A Bug's Life is an excellent DVD that's long on movie, but short on extras. If you can live with that, then this is definitely a worthy purchase. The video clarity will blow you away. This is a showcase disc to show off your DVD player to your friends. Nice job, Disney. Now if only you could keep it up...
