Opening Snide Remarks: My cousin rented this game and I played it.  Boy, am I
glad that I didn't waste the few dollars to rent this dog...

Gameplay Description: California Speed is a lame racing game in the vein of
the Cruis'n series, only not quite as good.  In this racing game, you need to
beat your opponents to the finish line while avoiding oncoming traffic.  The
game feels a lot like San Francisco Rush, only nowhere near as fun.  The 
controls suck, the graphics suck, and this game sucks.  There's a series mode
(Championship), practice mode, and single race mode.  That's it.  I guess the
real fun is supposed to be in driving golf carts?  This game is a joke.  
Don't let the Midway brass laugh by giving them $50 for it.   
Liked: That I didn't waste my money buying this piece of crap.
Hated: Everything.

Graphics Description: Cal Speed looks like Virtua Racing.  If you don't 
remember that game, it was basically made up of plain polygons.  This game is
extremely blocky and ugly.  This is not what an N64 game is supposed to look
like.  Hell, a PSX game shouldn't look like this.
Liked: Nothing.
Hated: Horrible graphics.

Sound/Music Description: Cal Speed's music is decent, but that's all.  The 
music is sorta hair bands metal.  The sound fx are decent. 
Liked: Decent music.
Hated: Nothing.

Play Control/Game Design: This game's controls suck.  The analog controls is
way too touchy.  If you pull the stick just a little, the car goes all the 
way to that side of the road.  If you pull a little the other way, the car 
goes all the way that way.  The game design is horrible.  Don't waste your 
time.

Hated: Horrid controls.

RIYL: Any other racing game.  I guarantee that you'll like them better.

Final Words: California Speed is a horrible game.  Stay away and be sure not
to be tempted to spend anything on this pitiful game.
