Cobra Command Game by Sega/Data East/Wolf Team Reviewed by Robby Cox koi@magicnet.net Save: None Released: 1992 Works with: N/A **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: This was one of the few Sega CD games that I bought when it first came out. There weren't really any stores around where I lived that carried it. Finally, the Wal-Mart where I live carried 2 Sega CD games- Cobra Command and I think Night Trap, but I already had Night Trap, so I bought this one. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: Cobra Command is basically a cross between Dragon's Lair and a shooter. You shoot at animated planes, tanks, and anything else that gets in your way. Every so often you will have to guide your chopper in which direction that you need to go to avoid crashing. This game is basically kill or be killed. You will get a rush when you play this game. The presentation is awesome. Liked: The excitement enduced from playing this game. Hated: It's basically just target practice. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: At one time, Cobra Command's graphics were amazing. But today, they just look like grainy animation. The animation looks like anime, but the picture quality sucks. It's very grainy and it's not very colorful. They're okay, but it's not a pretty game anymore. Liked: Cool anime. Hated: Grainy picture. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: Cobra Command has some great music that sounds like it belongs in a movie. The sound fx are excellent, as well. There's a guy, who I guess is supposed to be your co-pilot, that tells you where to go and what to do. His voice is really clear and he does a nice acting job. Liked: Everything. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: Cobra Command controls fine. The crosshair that you control moves where you want it to and when you need to control your chopper, it responds well. But the game is a little passsive. You can only go where it lets you, you can only fly the chopper to keep it from crashing, other than that you only control a crosshair. Liked: Great controls. Hated: You'll wish that you could actually fly the chopper. **************************************************************************** Improve: A more interactive Dreamcast sequel would be cool. RIYL: Dragon's Lair, Space Ace **************************************************************************** Final Words: Even with all of Cobra Command's shortcomings, this is still an amazing game. I hadn't played this game in years, but the first game that I played gave me a huge rush. You will love this game if you play it. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: **** Graphics: *** Sound/Music: ***** Play Control/Game Design: *** Personal Opinion: **** Total: 19 out of 25 Final Score: 76 % **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None.
