Game's Title: Deja Vu Game by: Infinite Ventures Reviewed by: BigBadBar Reviewer's E-mail: kummel@erols.com Release Date: 1986 System: NES Perhipherals: NES controller Genre: Puzzle/adventure Multiplayer: None (Modem, 4-player or 2 player?) Price Paid: Unknwon New or Used?: N/A Your Reason of purchase: My friend had this game.... Gameplay Department Originality: This type of game was a raging success back then. It only relied on a great plot and nice puzzles. This is very original, to the minimun details. (3 out of 3 stars) Fun Factor: This is a mixed bag. I love this kind of game, so I loved it, but this game isn't for everyone, though ( **** out of 5 stars) Controls: the mouse thingie is too slow, but it goes right on the buttons. ( 2 out of 4 stars) StoryLine: Extremely cool. I wish games today had plots nearly as cool as this one. You wake up in a bathroom in a poor motel in Chicago. You can't remember who you are. And then... I don't want to ruin it for you. ( * out of 1 star) Replay Value: Pretty much nothing. But it took me over 7 years ( Not stratigh, though) to finish this game. I can Name only 2 games that took me so long (this and Maniac Mansion! damn I love both of these games) But after the ending, you don't have anything to do... ( * out of 5 stars) Addiction: Very. Sometimes, you will only go on to see what will happen next. ( 2 out of 2 stars) Frustration: Very. Especially when you have no clue what to do. But keep trying. ( 0 out of 2 stars) Variety: Lots. You can ride a cab around town and all. Not too much, but some. ( 2 out of3 stars) Others: There are many ways to die. The muggers are a nice touch, but if you don't take care of them, you will lose all your money, and then there will be no way to end the game. And some things are downright clever ( The newspaper showing "The Japanese bomb Pearl Harbor" shows exactly the date this is going on.) Little details make this game very cool ( *** out of 3 stars) Challenge: Very challenging ( Unless you are a faggot and use a FAG, I mean a FAQ) Some puzzles you will take you very long to finish. ( **** out of5 stars) Total= 22 out of 33 Graphics Department Animation: None ( 0 out of 5 stars) Background Detail: Lots. The buildings look nice and the surrounding also... ( *** out of 3 stars) Character Detail: Duh! Of course the characters have a ****load of detail, they aren't animated. It makes the making of details much easier ( **** out of 4 stars) Colors(where possible) : Very colorful game. ( 3 stars) Others: This game is very graphic, showing every detail there is on everything ( ** out of 2 stars) Total= X out of 17 Sound Department Sound Effects: Not many... ( * out of 5 stars ) Music: This game has so amzing songs. They are fitting and dangerously catchy ( 5 out of 5 stars ) Voice ( where possible): None ( *** out of 3 stars) Others: none ( ** out of 2 stars) Total: 11 out of 15 Buying Guide Buy it if: You like puzzles with great plots. Don't buy it if: You get frustrated by being stuck in the game.... Reasons to buy: Deep storyline, Smart puzzles. Reasons not to buy: Poor Replay value. Is it worth the price?: Depending if you like this kind of game Final Judge Improve: MORE, MORE and MORE of everything Final Comments: This game is coming out for Gameboy Color and it will include a Never-released for NES Deja vú 2. Pick it up. It is far better than Shadowgate. I hope the Gameboy version will be more of the PC than the nes? Difference? None, except that the language is more graphic. That "woman" around the corner, isn't a woman, but a 10 dollar prostitute. At least on the PC version says that. it is Overall Score ( Not the average of scores above) 80% Gameplay Tips: Instead of shooting everybody, try hitting them. That way you won't go to jail. Unless ofcourse, the thing you are shooting is much stronger than you are or the place is 100% Isolated
