Demoliton Man Game by Virgin Interactive Reviewed by Robby Cox koi@magicnet.net Save: Passwords Released: 1994 Works with: American Laser Games Light Gun **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: When I first saw this movie, I thought it was awesome. I had heard that this game was supposed to be good. I hope it is. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: Demolition Man follows the plot of the movie very closely. The game is introduced with FMV from the movie, but then you play from there. Demoliton Man is one of those games that has several different kinds of gameplay in it. Most of the game is a shooter in the vein of Virtua Cop. There's also a poorly done Doom-type part of the game and a fighting part which is okay. But the meat of the game is the shooter part, which is very fun to play. Interspersed throughout the game is some FMV of Sylvester Stallone and Wesley Snipes that was filmed specifically for this game. This adds a really cool flavor to this game. Liked: When you set the difficulty to easy and Sylvester Stallone shows up and says "You Suck!". It's very funny. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: The graphics are awesome. The villains that you fight are photo-realistic 2-D sprites. They look great. The FMV is really nicely done, especially the scenes shot specifically for the game. Liked: Awesome 2-D sprites Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: The music in Demoliton Man sounds like the score to the movie. It really gets you into the game. The sound fx are great, as well. Liked: Excellent music. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: Alright, here's the area of Demoliton Man that is not all that great. The controls vary depending on the game. The shooter part controls very well. The fighter part controls pretty well, but it's really simple. The Doom-type game sucks because of the controls. They just don't respond very well. The game design is okay, but did there really need to be 3 types of games in one game. Liked: Good controls in the shooter part. Hated: Bad controls in the Doom part. **************************************************************************** Improve: Stick with the shooter part if a sequel to the movie ever gets made. RIYL: Virtua Cop, Virtua Cop 2, Crime Patrol **************************************************************************** Final Words: Demoliton Man is a great game. It's one of the best shooters on the 3DO, and there's a bunch of them. By the way, did you know that the Wesley Snipes role in "Demoliton Man" was originally offered to Jackie Chan? It's true, just imagine how different that movie would have been if he would've accepted it. Anyways, Demolition Man is recommended to everyone who likes shooters. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: **** Graphics: **** Sound/Music: ***** Play Control/Game Design: *** Personal Opinion: **** Total: 20 out of 25 Final Score: 80 % **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None Template courtesy of Philip Wesley.
