Opening Snide Remarks: I was a huge fan of the arcade original and I really 
wanted a home version.  I had played the SNES version which is nothing like 
the arcade version, but the Sega CD version is basically arcade perfect.

Gameplay Descripion: Dragon's Lair was originally a Laserdisc arcade game.
It was basically a playable cartoon.  It was amazing at the time.  This 
version is basically the same game, but the biggest problem with this version
is that the reaction time is almost nil.  You have to enter the correct 
controller commands at the exact time you should.  In the arcade, you could 
get pretty far on a single quarter, but sometimes you will have to play a 
scene over and over to get the timing exactly right.  It's okay but the 3DO
version is much better about this.  
Liked: Pretty close to the arcade version.
Hated: Reaction times have been seriously trimmed.

Graphics Description: Dragon's Lair still has some great graphics.  The video
is rather pixellated, but the animation is smooth.  The video is grainy, but
it's definitely playable.  It's basically movie quality animation.    
Liked: Great animation.
Hated: Grainy video.

Sound/Music Description: Dragon's Lair has great music and sound fx.  The 
sound quality isn't as good as it should be, but that's forgivable.  
Liked: Great music and sound fx.
Hated: Poor sound quality.

Play Control/Game Design: The controls aren't half as responsible as they 
should be.  They're easy to learn, but they aren't responsive.  The game 
design is good, but it's exactly like the original arcade game. 
Liked: Nothing.
Hated: Unresponsive controls.

Final Words: If you only have a Sega CD and want a copy of Dragon's Lair, 
then this game is for you.  But if you want a copy of Dragon's Lair and have
another CD based console, then check out another version.  I have the 3DO 
version, as well, and it's much better.  There's also a version for DVD Video
players.
