Opening Remarks: This is one of my favorite films of all time. Evil Dead 2 is the sequel to the Sam Raimi classic The Evil Dead. While The Evil Dead was a pretty straight horror flick, Evil Dead 2 is a horror film with loads of gore and a ton of laughs. It's not jokey, it's more slapstick. It is strange, but it is oh so enjoyable.

Movie Quality: Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn is an awesome film. Bruce Campbell is back as Ash. Ash & his girlfriend Linda go to an abandoned cabin in the woods. While they're there, Linda becomes possessed by the Evil and tries to kill Ash. Ash kills Linda by cutting off her head with a shovel. He then buries her body. Soon after, Linda shows back up dancing outside Ash's window. Then all of a sudden, Linda's severed head lands in Ash's lap. She then bites Ash's hand. He runs around the room slamming the severed head into the wall trying to make her quit biting him. He then goes to the woodshed and puts her head in a clamp. He then gets a chainsaw to finish the job, she pleads for him not to finish her off. She acts like the old Linda, and then starts bad-mouthing him. He then cranks up the chainsaw and finishes the job off. The woodshed is a left in a bloody mess. This is just the first 10 minutes. The movie gets even more twisted and strange, but it's so funny and different that you will have a blast watching it.

Video Quality: This disc looks great. The film is presented in it's 1.85:1 Widescreen theatrical format. The colors are nice and the film is clean of scratches and artifacts. One thing to keep in mind is that this is a low budget film from 1987, so don't expect eye popping colors. It looks much better than the VHS version which I also own.

Sound Quality: This disc just doesn't sound all that great. It sounds okay, but it's not in Surround Sound or anything. It says it's in Stereo, but there's no obvious stereo separation. It sounds like it's in Mono, but it's good enough. Just don't expect greatness.

Extras: The only extra on this disc is the Original Theatrical Trailer. This trailer is pretty boring and short and really doesn't add anything to this disc.

Improve: More extras.

RIYL: The Evil Dead: Special Edition(Elite) and the forthcoming Army Of Darkness: Special Edition(Anchor Bay)

Overall Opinion: This is a pretty good disc for fans of this film. It's only $20, as well. For newbies, you might want to wait for the rumored Evil Dead 2: Special Edition. If you've never seen this film, please do. You will love it. It is awesome.
