Extreme-G Game by Acclaim Reviewed by Robby Cox koi@magicnet.net Save: Controller Pak Released: 1997 Works with: Rumble Pak, Controller Pak **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: The still pictures that I saw of this game looked awesome. Can the game live up to my expectations? **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: Extreme-G is a hoverbike racing game. Your bikes can carry and use weapons to fight your fellow racers. The tracks are very reminiscent of roller coasters, much more so than F-Zero X. You have 3 turbo boosts that you will have to strategically use in order to finish the race in first place. This game plays great. Liked: Cool tracks. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: The graphics of Extreme-G are great. There is some fog present, but the game moves so fast that you will hardly notice. There is tons of detail present alongside the tracks which look fabulous. The hoverbikes themselves are rather plain. Liked: Beautiful tracks. Hated: Ugly bikes. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: Extreme-G has some great techno music. The sound fx are pretty good, as well. Liked: Great music. Hated: No surround sound support. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: The controls of Extreme-G are great. They're easy to learn and very responsive. The game design is great. There's a bunch of tracks to race and a few different modes to check out. Liked: Great controls. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Improve: More tracks, a more-balanced 4-player mode. RIYL: F-Zero X, Wipeout **************************************************************************** Final Words: Extreme-G is great one-player racing game, but don't buy this game becuase of the 4-player mode. The 4-player mode is disappointing due to the fact that the power-ups aren't very balanced. There's only one power-up that will help you out if you're waaaaay behind. A worthy purchase for one. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: **** Graphics: ***** Sound/Music: **** Play Control/Game Design: **** Personal Opinion: **** Total: 21 out of 25 Final Score: 84 % **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None
