George Foreman's K.O. Boxing Game by Acclaim Reviewed by Adrock adam@dmgice.com Size: 1 megabit Save: Password, 12 boxes, 4 digits Released: 1992 Works with: Any Game Boy **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: This game is such a rip-off of Punch-Out, it is not even funny. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: The game has the license of George Foreman. You may recognize him from the "Mean Lean Fat Reducing Machine" grill. Or something like that. Oh, and he also has a small career in the sport of boxing. For fans of the MLFR Machine, sorry, this game is about his boxing career. Like I say above, the play is very, very similar to Punch-Out! for the NES. There is even that "Super Punch" thing, where you have to hold select and press punch, to deliver a more striking blow. Well actually on Punch-Out... it's START for the super-punch. But oh well. The play is OK, I guess. Takes a little time to get used to it. Any fans of Punch-Out should like it, but, any player should try it out first... It's a little shallow. Liked: Plays like Punch-Out. Fans of boxing may apply. Hated: Might get boring, a little shallow...? **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: Graphics are not all there. Needs more detail, and more frames of animation. No eye candy here, but perhaps some eye sores. Liked: Cool title screen with George on it. Hated: Needs more detail. And needs more frames. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: The Sound FX are pretty much crap. When you make punches, it sounds like you're punching iron. Talk about man of steel! OK, that was not cool. Scratch that. Um... the music is nothing to gawk about either. Liked: Nothing really. Hated: Ooh... the sound is not too good. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: I found the control just a little shabby. Some hits slip and lots of delay will have you slipping into a couple sucker punches. Liked: You can get a couple hits in. Hated: Needs a better control system. Password system is a little weird. **************************************************************************** Improve: More detail... better controls, and a little work on the sound. RIYL: Boxing **************************************************************************** Final Words: Boxing fans might consider giving this game a test-drive. It goes to show how good a Punch-Out! GB could be... **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: *** Graphics: *** Sound/Music: ** Play Control/Game Design: ** Personal Opinion: *** Total: 13 Final Score: 52% **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None.
