Gauntlet II Game by Mindscape Reviewed by Robby Cox koi@magicnet.net Save: None Released: 1990 Works with: N/A **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: I was a huge fan of the original arcade version of Gauntlet. I always wanted a home version, but I never bought one. I found this game used for $10, so I bought it. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Description: Gauntlet II plays exactly like the original Gauntlet. In case you never played Gauntlet, the game is basically an overhead Dungeons & Dragons game. You walk around collecting keys, destroying monsters, and looking for the exit to the level. There are treasures to be found, as well as food that can be eaten to gain health. Anyways, this version plays just like the arcade version did. It's a blast to play. Liked: Arcade perfect gameplay. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: Gauntlet II's graphics are okay, but they're extremely simple looking. The game is played from an overhead perspective and this works well. The graphics are pretty good for an NES game, but they definitely look dated compared to games made today. Liked: Good graphics. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: Gauntlet II has all of the voice samples from the arcade games, but the quality isn't as good. The music is good and fits this game well. The sound fx are good, as well. Liked: The voices are even in here. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: Gauntlet II controls perfectly. They're very simple. The game design is great, as this game plays exactly like the arcade versions. Liked: Great game design. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Improve: Nothing. RIYL: Gauntlet, the upcoming home versions of Gauntlet Legends. **************************************************************************** Final Words: Gauntlet II is an excellent game that shouldn't be forgotten. This game is still a blast to play and is exactly like the arcade versions. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: ***** Graphics: *** Sound/Music: **** Play Control/Game Design: ***** Personal Opinion: **** Total: 21 out of 25 Final Score: 84 % **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None.
