Golf Game by Nintendo Reviewed by Adrock gbcam@hotmail.com Size: 1 Meg Save: Battery, 2 slots Released: 1989 Works with: Any Game Boy Model **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: Golf. The game of old people and corporate big shots swinging their live away. They come in masses, rushing to the nearest course in their area. They can swing all day, and talk about it all day the next day. Just the feeling of getting to that small hole, and putting the ball in. Then they all drive to the next course and play it again. And it's everywhere in their life, too. Murals on their coffee table. Golf Clubs in their living rooms. Screen Savers on their PC's. But on their Game Boys? "I'll leave that stuff to the little kids... It can never be as good as the true experience of Golf." Well, listen up Gramps. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: Gameplay is great. I loved it. Did you love NES Golf? This is cool, too. You have 2 courses (36 holes) to swing your life away. Cool little animated cinemas for your playing pleasure, starring Mario. Two players can play on a link. Even if you've never played Golf in your life, there is little to no learning curve. A five year old can pick it up and play. The sand near the hole has arrows on it. What does this mean? Well, since they can't actually show you the hills and slants of the sand, they have put arrows instead. Smart! Liked: Imagine the fun actual Golf fans will have, since I'm not even a fan and I loved it. Hated: More holes. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: The graphics are simple, but detailed enough to make a perfect home for the game. Courses are widely varied. You'll really enjoy what the Game Boy Color and the Super Game Boy do for this game... It works wonders for it. And plus, Mario is your golfer, and he always knows how to make you smile. Liked: Great Graphics. Hated: Not eye-popping, a little detail to splendor the eye might help. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: Cool little songs that get you in the mood for a good game of golf. The sound FX of the ball make a high sound when it gets higher and then gradually goes down to a low sound. This made the ball feel like it was moving really slow. Some detailed FX include the splash for getting it in the water, and a crash for hitting trees. Liked: Cool songs and effects. Hated: That ball sounds weird sometimes. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: Why does aiming the ball move so slow? Press A once to set, then A again to hit. Liked: Simple enough. Hated: Plays kind of slow at times. **************************************************************************** Improve: More holes and an option for a faster or slower paced game. Color? RIYL: Playing Golf, something you've never tried on Game Boy. **************************************************************************** Final Words: This is a cool game for any gamer to have, whether you're a Tiger Woods or a Tony the Tiger, it's ggrrrreat! **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: ***** Graphics: **** Sound/Music: **** Play Control/Game Design: *** Personal Opinion: ***** Total: 21 out of 25 Final Score: %84 **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None
