Hang On Game by Sega Reviewed by Robby Cox koi@magicnet.net Save: None Released: 1985 Works with: N/A **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: I hadn't played this game in years until now. It came preloaded on my Sega Master System and from what I remember I didn't really like it. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: Hang On is a motorcycle racer. You have to get from the starting line to the next checkpoint before the timer expires. You have to avoid other bikers and obstacles that are strown around the shoulder of the road. The motorcycle drives pretty well, but if you hit anything your motorcycle blows up. You then have to get centered on the road and start driving again. This sucks! It gets very annoying when you have to start from 0 mph over and over again. Liked: Plays somewhat realisitically. Hated: Every time you bump something it's instant death. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: The graphics of Hang On are pretty good, considering the age of this game. The motorcycles look pretty good but the scenery never changes. It's just black-topped roads and green grass alongside them. It gets old. Liked: Great looking riders. Hated: Boring scenery. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: The music of Hang On is pretty good. It's not annoying, but it's not very memorable either. The sound fx are pretty good. Liked: Decent sound and music. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: The control of Hang On is pretty good. The motorcycles control like they should. The game design is okay, but I think that if a motorcycle hits another motorcycle then they would probably fall or be thrown off of their bikes. They wouldn't explode. Liked: Good controls. Hated: Whenever you hit something your bike explodes. **************************************************************************** Improve: Make it so that if you hit something, your bike won't explode. RIYL: Out Run(SMS), other motorcycle racing games **************************************************************************** Final Words: Hang On is probably one of the best early racers. It just doesn't stand the test of time too well. There's a lot better racers around on other platforms. So unless you collect videogames, like I do, I would steer clear of this game. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: ** Graphics: *** Sound/Music: *** Play Control/Game Design: ** Personal Opinion: ** Total: 12 out of 25 Final Score: 48 % **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None Template courtesy of Philip Wesley.
