WWF In Your House Game by Acclaim Reviewed by Robby Cox koi@magicnet.net Save: None Released: 1996 Works with: Multi-Tap **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: I always wanted to check this game out, but I never did. I found it at K-Mart for $17.99, so I bought it. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Description: WWF In Your House is basically a sequel to WWF Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game, which I loved. It was the first wrestling game that was actually a blast to play. Well, this game is basically the same, but with new characters and moves. The game is based around pre-determined combos. What I mean by this is that your combo meter will fill up while you fight and when it is fully filled, you can unleash monster combos on the opposition. There are tons of cool special moves and they're extremely easy to pull off. When you go for the pin, you either pin the guy or they get up and one more attack will put them down for the count. There's no 1, 2, 3. There are 10 wrestlers to choose from-Bret Hart, Owen Hart, Shawn Michaels, Vader, Golddust, The British Bulldog, Ahmed Johnson, Hunter Hearst Helmsley, The Undertaker, and The Ultimate Warrior. This is a motley crew, but they are fun to play as. This game is a ton of fun! Liked: That this game is like WWF Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: WWF: IYH is not the most state of the art game graphics wise. What I mean by that is that this game features good old 2D sprites. This makes a lot of the things look pixellated, but it also simplifies this game. The wrestlers look like they should. There are a ton of different rings each with a different theme. Owen Hart's ring looks like it came from a deck of playing cards, while The British Bulldog's looks like it's near Buckingham Palace. This is extremely cool. Some of the moves don't look exactly like they should, but this is forgiven. Liked: Fast 2D sprites. Hated: Pixellated sprites. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: This game sounds awesome. It's not in surround sound or anything, but everything sounds great. The music is exactly what the wrestlers come to ring with. The sound fx are cartoony and are crystal clear. The play-by-play commentary of Vince McMahon and Mr. Perfect(Curt Hennig) is excellent. They don't talk as much as Vince and Jerry "The King" Lawler do in WWF Wrestlmania: TAG, but they have a lot more phrases which leads to not hearing the same phrase over and over. The wrestlers even have sound bites that are cool. Liked: Great sound fx. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: The controls are perfect. They are simple and responsive. The game design is great. There are 3 modes of play-Season, WWF Intercontinental Title, and WWF Championship. The Season mode is the best. You can even team up with friends or battle it out with them. Liked: Great controls. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Improve: I would love to see a sequel to this game with more wrestlers. RIYL: WWF Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game, WCW/nWo: Revenge. **************************************************************************** Final Words: WWF In Your House is an excellent game that is dirt cheap. You should definitely check this game out if you have a Playstation. It's a blast to play. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: ***** Graphics: **** Sound/Music: ***** Play Control/Game Design: ***** Personal Opinion: ***** Total: 24 out of 25 Final Score: 96 % **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: Down, Down, Down, Down, L1-For always Super-Pin your opponent.
