Lock 'N Chase Game by Data East/ Re-released by Sunsoft Reviewed by Robby Cox koi@magicnet.net Size: Save: None Released: 1990 Works with: all Gameboy versions. **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: I absolutely loved the arcade version and the Atari 2600 version. I was very pleased to find the Game Boy version. I figured the GB version would look like the 2600 version did. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: In Lock 'N Chase, you play as a thief who must escape from the police. You must clear each level of pellets(?) to go to the next level. The police chase you and you can lock gates to keep the cops away from you. The game plays a lot like Pac-Man, but I didn't think the old versions did. Also, you can only lock 2 gates at a time in this version, but in the old versions you could lock all of the gates that you wanted. Liked: Plays like Pac-Man. Hated: I liked the way the old versions played better. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: Lock 'N Chase looks much better than it did in the arcades or on the 2600. The characters are large and nicely detailed. The levels are very nicely designed as well. Liked: Updated graphics. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: The music in Lock 'N Chase is pretty good. The sound fx are good, as well. Liked: Decent music and sound. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: Lock 'N Chase controls very well. The only problem is that the gates don't lock when you want them to, so the game ends up playing like Pac-Man. Liked: Easy controls. Hated: Gates don't lock right. **************************************************************************** Improve: Make the sequel more like the arcade version. RIYL: Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man **************************************************************************** Final Words: Lock 'N Chase GB is really more like Pac-Man than Lock 'N Chase. There's nothing wrong with that as it's a great playing Pac-Man knock-off. If you want another Pac-Man type of game, then buy this game, but if you want classic Lock 'N Chase action, then look elsewhere. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: *** Graphics: **** Sound/Music: *** Play Control/Game Design: **** Personal Opinion: *** Total: 17 out of 25 Final Score: 68 % **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None Template courtesy of Philip Wesley.
