Michael Jackson's Moonwalker Game by Sega Reviewed by Robby Cox koi@magicnet.met Save: None Released: 1990 Works with: N/A **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: This used to be the best sounding game that I had ever played. The MJ tunes in this game were amazing. But is the game still fun to play. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: Moonwalker is a strange game. It's a cross between an action game like Streets of Rage and a movie musical. You have to dispatch enemies by kicking them or making them dance with you. You have to rescue kids and when you rescue all of the kids, Bubbles the chimp jumps on Michael's head and rides him until the end of the level. This is extremely strange. All in all, this is an unusual game that is still pretty fun to play. Liked: Unusual gameplay. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: Moonwalker looks pretty good. The enemies and Michael move very well. The dance numbers are nicely animated. The backgrounds are nicely detailed. Liked: Cool dance numbers. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: Moonwalker has some great music. The renditions of the MJ classics still sound good. The sound fx are pretty good, as well. Liked: MJ songs. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: Moonwalker controls very well. The controls are easy to learn and are very responsive. The game design is good, but it's very strange to see MJ rescuing children and Bubbles on Michael's head. Liked: Good controls. Hated: Goofy situations. **************************************************************************** Improve: More music. RIYL: Michael Jackson CDs. **************************************************************************** Final Words: Michael Jackson's Moonwalker is a piece of videogame history. There will never be a sequel. It's a very unique game that just works. You should check it out if you're looking for something different. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: **** Graphics: *** Sound/Music: **** Play Control/Game Design: *** Personal Opinion: *** Total: 17 out of 25 Final Score: 68 % **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None.
