Namco Museum Volume 1 Game by Namco Reviewed by Robby Cox koi@magicnet.net Save: Memory Card Released: 1995 Works with: NegCon, Memory Card **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: I had always wanted this game, but never bought it. I found it the other day for $20, so I bought it. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Description: The Namco Museum series is a series of 5 CDs(6 in Japan) that celebrate the legacy of Namco. This volume contains 7 games- Pac-Man, Toy Pop, Galaga, Pole Position, Bosconian, Rally-X, and New Rally-X. These games are arcade perfect. The only problem with this disc is that the games just aren't all that fun to play anymore. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a game of Pac-Man or Galaga as much as anybody else, but I'd rather play a newer game anyday. The museum feature is cool, but the long load times put a damper on the fun. I also prefer the presentation of Midway and Atari's Arcade's Greatest Hits. Liked: Arcade perfect versions of classic games. Hated: The classics just aren't as much fun anymore. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: Namco Museum Vol. 1 looks great. The museum segments look pretty good, but they look a lot like a first-gen PSX game. The game graphics are great. They look just like the arcade versions did. Liked: Graphics look just like the arcade versions. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: The museum music is great. The music of the individual games are exactly like the arcade versions. The sound fx are exactly like they were in the arcades. Liked: Perfect music. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: The controls of Namco Museum Vol. 1 are great. The game controls are exactly like their arcade counterparts. They are easy to learn and very responsive. The game design is great. The museum concept is cool, but the long load times hurt the experience. This was fixed in later versions. Liked: Perfect controls. Hated: Loooong load times:( **************************************************************************** Improve: Load times(Fixed in Volume 3) RIYL: Namco Museum series, Midway and Atari's Arcade's Greatest Hits **************************************************************************** Final Words: If you love classic arcade games, then you owe it to yourself to check out the Namco Museum series. These games are not games that you will play everyday, buy they definitely deserve a place in your videogame collection. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: ***** Graphics: *** Sound/Music: **** Play Control/Game Design: ***** Personal Opinion: ***** Total: 22 out of 25 Final Score: 88 % **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None.
