NCAA GameBreaker '99 Game by 989 Sports Reviewed by Robby Cox koi@magicnet.net Save: Memory Card Released: 1998 Works with: Analog Control, Vibration Feature, Memory Card, Multi-Tap. **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: As some of you may know, I received this game for free. My cousin received it for being on the Nickelodeon GAS channel(that's Games And Sports, you weirdos). **************************************************************************** Gameplay Description: NCAA GameBreaker '99 is a pretty decent football game. This game fails to really impress in any area, but it won't make you sick either. The actual gameplay is pretty lousy. This is an extremely simple football game, but it's just not very much fun to play. Here's how to score: Throw a pass and then make the receiver jump. That's it. The running game is laughable. Defense if stupid, as well. Overall, if you don't have access to Quarterback Club '99 or any Madden games, the GB will do. Liked: Decent gameplay. Hated: NFL QB Club '99 beats this game like a dog.(I don't condone beating dogs.) **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: NCAA GB '99 looks pretty lousy. The characters are extremely plain and blocky. The stadiums look okay, but that's it. The mo- cap moves are crappy. The people move very stupidly, but the celebrations look good?!? Overall, I guess the graphics are okay for the PSX, but don't expect NFL QB Club '99. Liked: Celebrations. Hated: Every friggin' thing else. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: NCAA GB '99's music is okay. It sounds like marching band music, which fits this game well. The sound fx are okay, but the play-by-play commentary by broadcasting legend Keith Jackson is laughable. He talks about things that just didn't happen. If you make a pass up the middle of the field, he'll say "He throws to the sideline". This is stupid. He also will call off the wrong team's name. Every game he will mention Air Force, but yet I have never even played Air Force. He also called the Ball State Cardinals, the Ball State Cougars. Huh?!? They have little red birds on their helmets, but they're the Cougars? At halftime, I saw that they really were the Cardinals. This is extremely stupid and I would have thought better of Sony. Liked: Keith Jackson... Hated: When Keith makes a wrong call(which is verrrry frequently.) **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: NCAA GB '99 controls okay. The digital controls are fine, but the analog controls are way too touchy. The game design is okay, but this football game is way too simple. Liked: Okay digital controls. Hated: Horrible analog controls. **************************************************************************** Improve: Make a more complex game and fix Keith Jackson's commentary!!! RIYL: NFL Quarterback Club '99, Madden NFL series. **************************************************************************** Final Words: NCAA GameBreaker '99 is a decent game. If you are a college football junkie, then GB '99 might be your fix. Anyone else, don't waste your money on this pitiful game. I got this game for free and I still feel screwed. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: * Graphics: * Sound/Music: * Play Control/Game Design: ** Personal Opinion: * Total: 6 out of 25 Final Score: 24 % **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None.
