NFL 2K Game by Sega Sports/Visual Concepts Reviewed by Robby Cox koi@magicnet.net Save: VMU-191 Blocks Released: 9-9-99 Works with: VMU, Jump Pack **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: This is one of those games that just looks amazing. It almost looks too good. I figured that it would be a decent football game that looked amazing. I was wrong, it plays perfectly as well. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Description: NFL 2K is quite simply the best football game ever made. It's perfect. The game plays just like real football. One concern is that several websites and videogame mags said that running was hard. It's not hard if you run in the holes that the linemen make for you. The passing game is good, as well. You can play a season, an exhibition, a tournament, practice, play fantasy football and draft your own teams. You can basically do anything that you can imagine. This game just gets the gameplay down perfectly. Liked: Amazing gameplay. Hated: When Dan Marino tore his ACL about mid-way through my season:( (Luckily Craig Erickson did a bang-up job as his replacement:) **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: I don't think that I need to really go into any detail here. You've all seen the pictures. You know that it looks amazing. It looks even better when you are controlling it. Liked: Everything. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: First off, the play-by-play announcing is amazing. They still repeat some phrases, but for the most part, it is awesome. There is a 2-man announcing team and they are really funny. There is also a woman who is the sideline reporter. The music is a bit of a sore spot for me. The music quality is poor. It is definitely not Redbook audio, I guess it's crappy sounding MIDI. When the game is loading up, the music goes from Surround Sound to Mono. That's annoying, but it's not a big problem. Liked: Amazing Play-by-Play commentary. Hated: Pitiful music. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: The controls are perfect and they are laid out just like they should be. The game design is great, as well. This game has all of the options that you would expect from a great football game. Liked: Perfect controls. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Improve: Better music quality. RIYL: Don't bother with any other football games. Just buy this one! **************************************************************************** Final Words: NFL 2K is quite simply the best football game ever made. Just buy this game if you have any interest in playing football. It's perfect. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: ***** Graphics: ***** Sound/Music: *****(The play by play deserves 5 stars alone) Play Control/Game Design: ***** Personal Opinion: ***** Total: 25 out of 25 Final Score: 100 % **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None.
