Opening Snide Remarks: I thought that Phoenix 3 looked pretty good before I
bought it.  I never found a review of it, so I didn't really know what to 
expect.

Gameplay Descripion: Phoenix 3 is a lame platform/action game where you walk
around killing aliens.  You can jump, shoot you machine gun, and throw 
grenades.  That's it.  In later stages, there are some flight levels, but why
would you want to play that far.  This is a crappy game, plain and simple.
Liked: Nothing.
Hated: Everything.

Graphics Description: Okay, there's good news and bad news.  Which do you 
want to hear first?  Bad news?  Okay, the game plays really slowly and the 
controls suck.  Good news?  It's all to blame on the detailed graphics.  The
graphics are some of the best 2-D photo-realistic sprites I have ever seen.  
The aliens are really cool and when you kill them they explode into a bloody
mess.  Your character looks and moves like a real person.  The backgrounds 
are pretty realistic, too.  But if it kills the game, why do so much detail?   
Liked: Great graphics.
Hated: Great graphics cause this game to play too slow and have horrible 
controls.

Sound/Music Description: Phoenix 3 has some pretty good music.  It sounds 
kinda like RUSH, but there's no lyrics.  The sound fx are okay.
Liked: Decent music.
Hated: Nothing.

Play Control/Game Design: Okay, I'll start with the controls.  The controls 
suck!  When commands are entered, there's a noticeable lag before there's any
action.  They're not responsive, either.  The game design is okay, but who 
wants to play a game with poor controls and slow gameplay caused by overly 
detailed graphics?      
Liked: Nothing.
Hated: Everything.

Final Words: Phoenix 3 is a horrible game.  You are advised to stay away.  I
think that these types of games are what gave the 3DO the bad reputation that
it so much deserves.
