The Pirates of Dark Water Game by Sunsoft Reviewed by Robby Cox koi@magicnet.net Save: None Released: 1994 Works with: N/A **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: I knew nothing and still know nothing about The Pirates of Dark Water other than it was a Hanna-Barbera produced cartoon. The reason that I bought this game is that it was on clearance for $4.99. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: TPODW is a beat-em-up type of game. You move from left to right while beating up enemies that get in your way. An interesting feature in this game is the ability to destroy statues and other objects to find hidden things. The game engine is pretty good and there's some interesting suprises in this game. Like the fact, that one level is a shooter. But that's all that I'm gonna tell you about. Liked: Cool surprises. Hated: Repetitive gameplay. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: The graphics in TPODW are pretty good. The villains look very cool and are very large. The player controlled characters are smaller and less detailed. The backgrounds are nicely done. Liked: Cool villains. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: The music in TPODW is pretty good. It's not very memorable, but it's not annoying either. The sound fx get the job done. Liked: Good music. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: The controls of TPODW are pretty good. The controls are simple to learn which is good because this is a simple game. The game design is great. There's a few places in this game where the game definitely strays off of the beaten path and it works. Liked: Cool suprises. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Improve: Battery saves, 4-player mode RIYL: Die Hard Arcade, Final Fight **************************************************************************** Final Words: The Pirates of Dark Water is a pretty good SNES game. If you still play your SNES occasionally, then this game will bring back some fond memories. It's worth a purchase if found cheap. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: **** Graphics: **** Sound/Music: *** Play Control/Game Design: **** Personal Opinion: *** Total: 18 out of 25 Final Score: 72 % **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None Template courtesy of Philip Wesley.
