Slam 'N Jam '95 Game by Crystal Dynamics Reviewed by Robby Cox koi@magicnet.net Save: 3DO Internal Memory Released: 1995 Works with: N/A **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: I had heard that Slam 'N Jam was an awesome b-ball game. I saw it for $20 and had to buy it. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: Slam 'N Jam is a more realistic version of NBA Jam. There's no NBA team or players license, but it's still a pretty good b-ball game. Unlike NBA Jam, Slam 'N Jam is 5-on-5 ball. There are some sweet moves including behind the back passes, breaking the backboard, and even blocking the ball from behind. Blocks from behind is something that most basketball games don't have. All in all, Slam 'N Jam is a great game. Liked: Great basketball game. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: Slam 'N Jam has some great 2-D sprite graphics. The players are large and well-detailed. The game is fast and the arenas look nice. Liked: Great 2-D graphics. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: Slam 'N Jam has some pretty good music. The sound fx are great. There's even an overreactive announcer that does a great job. Liked: Great sound. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: Slam 'N Jam controls great. The controls are easy to learn and are very responsive. The game design is great, but it seems a little too tough in the later stages. This was fixed in Slam 'N Jam '96, though. Liked: Great controls. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Improve: I would love to see a new version of this game with polygon graphics. RIYL: NBA Jam, Kobe Bryant in NBA Courtside **************************************************************************** Final Words: Slam 'N Jam is a great basketball game. If you like NBA Jam, then you'll love Slam 'N Jam. This was the first b-ball game from the team that created Kobe Bryant in NBA Courtside and it's not quite as good as Courtside, but it's still really fun to play. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: **** Graphics: *** Sound/Music: **** Play Control/Game Design: **** Personal Opinion: *** Total: 18 out of 25 Final Score: 72 % **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None.
