Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land Game by Nintendo Reviewed by BigBadBar kummel@erols.com Release Date: 1994 System: Game Boy, Super, and Color Perhipherals: none Genre: platformer Multiplayer: none Price Paid: 20 bucks New or Used: New Reason of purchase: I wanted another plataformer and Wario is my favorite character of all time Gameplay Department Originality: It's Mario, only 100% different. You have to go through all 30- something levels to beat the bad guys so you can get a castle. You go searching for treasures all over the land, and instead of just your average mushroom and flower, you have 5 different Warios. Small Wario, Jet Wario, Bull Wario, Average Wario and Dragon Wario. It all depends in what hat you are wearing. (*** out of 3 stars) Fun Factor: This game has fun written all over it. Body slam is one million times better, easier than jumping on the enemies. There is no mistake to it! By the way, Unlike Wario Land 2, this game you can die! (***** out of 5 stars) Controls: Your average control for Gameboy. Easy, Quick and responsive (**** out of 4 stars) StoryLine: Hilarious. You have to get the princess's statue from the bad guys to... sell it back to the royal family so Wario can make a castle for himself "That sill be way bigger than Mario's pathetic excuse for a castle. Ga, ha, ha, ha...!" ( * out of 1 star) Replay Value: It's a platformer, but it has a ton of replay value. With multiple endings and stuff to search all over the game, this game will last a long time (***** out of 5 stars) Addiction: Well, It's not VERY addictive, but it will make you go back to play again ( * out of 2 stars) Frustration: This game only frustrates me every now and so. You won't die in the same place very often, but sometimes you will (* out of 2 stars) Variety: The minigames are somehow a mixed bag. The bucket one sucks major ass, but the bombing one is one of the coolest minigames yet. Tons of different enemies and a few different versions of Wario make this game very cool and with lots of variety (*** out of 3 stars) Others: This game is very funny. The names are hilarious. Captain Syrup, Brown Sugar Pirates, what a tasty game! ( ** out of 3 stars) Challenge: Some people might think is a tad easy, but the real challenge is to find all the treasures ( **** out of 5 stars) Total= 28 out of 33 Graphics Department Animation: I only played it on GBC and the animation seems very smooth. ( ***** out of 5 stars) Background Detail: The island map is great but the background on levels are weak and didn't got much attention. ( ** 3 stars) Character Detail: Wario and it's enemies are surprisingly detailed. ( **** out of 4 stars) Colors(where possible) : For a game this old, it really takes advantage of Game Boy Color. Wario is almost as colorful as in WLII, which is VERY good, for a game this old. Enemies are colored very well also. I am very impressed with this game! ( *** out of 3 stars) Others: none ( ** out of 2 stars) Total= 16 out of 17 Sound Department Sound Effects: The sound effects are your average Gameboy sounds... they are great, but nothing too good. ( **** out of 5 stars ) Music: It is great, but Wario Land II's are much better( **** out of 5 stars ) Voice ( where possible): not possible ( *** out of3 stars) Others: none ( ** out of 2 stars) Total: 13 out of 15 Buying Guide Buy it if: You like platformers and you love Wario. And If you like long-lasting gmaes Don't buy it if: If you don't like platformers.
