Sol-Feace Game by Sega/Wolf Team Reviewed by Robby Cox koi@magicnet.net Save: None Released: 1992 Works with: N/A **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: This game was one of the free CDs that came with the original version of the Sega CD. I used to like this game, will I still? **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: Sol-Feace is a great shooter. It's a great shooter in the vein of Gradius or Raiden. It has the same formula that basically every other shooter does, kill or be killed, then fight a massive boss, rinse and repeat. You get the picture. But Sol-Feace has some unique things going for it, for instance, there is lots of space debris floating in the air which can destroy your ship, but you can do something besides dodge it, you can shoot it and you will reverse it's flight path. This is a really cool idea. Other than that, it's basically just like every other shooter on the market, but it's still a blast to play. Liked: Unique features. Hated: Has the same formula as every shooter. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: Sol-Feace looks like a 16-bit shooter should. The ships are fairly small sprites and the backgrounds are rather sparsely decorated, but the bosses are massive. They are some of the coolest bosses of any shooter ever. But other than that, it looks pretty much like you would expect. There's also some cool anime cinemas that look pretty good. Liked: Huge bosses. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: Sol-Feace has some pretty good music, but it really sounds just like a cartridge game would. The sound fx are pretty good. Liked: Ok music. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: Sol-Feace has some very responsive controls and they're very easy to learn. The game design is great. Liked: Great controls. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Improve: Cooler levels. RIYL: Gradius, R-Type, Raiden series. **************************************************************************** Final Words: Sol-Feace is a great shooter, if you still like shooters. If you don't, there's not enough new stuff to enitice you to change your mind. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: **** Graphics: *** Sound/Music: *** Play Control/Game Design: **** Personal Opinion: *** Total: 17 out of 25 Final Score: 68 % **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None.
