Sonic 3D Blast Game by Sega Reviewed by Robby Cox koi@magicnet.net Save: None Released: 1996 Works with: Analog Controller **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: Sonic 3D Blast is one of the 2 Sonic games that graced the Saturn, the other being Sonic R. The game looks good, but it really was just a port of the Genesis version. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: Sonic 3D Blast is an isometric action game. You would've thought that this would be a platform game, but you'd be wrong. It's an action game. You have to find these little birds that were turned into monsters by Dr. Robotnik. You roll into the monsters and then they turn back into little birds who follow you. You then need to take them to the warp zone so they can be warped to where they need to go. There are also boss stages, but that's about the extent of this game. It's well done, but it's really not a Sonic game. Liked: Fun gameplay. Hated: This game is a Sonic game by name alone. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: The graphics are rendered which gives this game a great look. The isometric perspective works well since this game is not a platform game. There are a ton of colors on screen. Overall, there's some great graphics. Liked: Tons of colors, rendered graphics. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: The music of Sonic 3D Blast is great. There's even different songs for when you have different power-ups. The sound fx are good but they border on becoming annoying. Liked: Great music. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: The controls in Sonic 3D Blast are really good. The controls are simple and easy to learn. The game design is okay, but a Sonic game should definitely be a platformer, not an action game. Liked: Great controls. Hated: Not a platformer. **************************************************************************** Improve: I hope Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast is awesome. RIYL: Sonic The Hedghog, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Sonic CD, Sonic and Knuckles **************************************************************************** Final Words: Sonic 3D Blast is an above average action game, just don't expect this game to play like the Sonic games of old. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: *** Graphics: **** Sound/Music: **** Play Control/Game Design: *** Personal Opinion: **** Total: 18 out of 25 Final Score: 72 % **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None.
