Rolling Thunder Game by Tengen Reviewed by Robby Cox koi@magicnet.net Save: Password Released: 1989 Works with: N/A **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: I was not too pleased with the Genesis version of RT2, but I gave this game a chance. If you've read many of my reviews, you'll know the reason why I bought this game. It was cheap. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: Rolling Thunder is basically a shooter along the lines of Contra, but the game is slower paced. You can jump and fire a weapon. That's all, but that's all this game really needs. You can also enter doors, some of which have power-ups and extra ammo. This game is much faster paced than the sequel. This game is also much more fun than the sequel. Liked: Faster gameplay than the sequel. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: RT looks pretty good. The graphics of this version aren't as good as the Genesis sequel, but that's to be expected. The frame rate is faster and this helps to make this game more fun. The graphics are fine, but they're not the best. Liked: Good graphics. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: RT has some great music. It sounds a lot like the score to a James Bond movie. It's awesome. The sound fx are good, as well. Liked: Great music. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: RT has some super simple, but super responsive controls. They're excellent. The game design is good, but the one-hit deaths get old after a while. Liked: Great controls. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Improve: Fix the one-hit deaths. RIYL: Rolling Thunder 2, Contra series, Mega Man series. **************************************************************************** Final Words: Rolling Thunder is a great game that proves that the NES can still play some great games. This is an excellent game that is much better than I ever figured. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: **** Graphics: *** Sound/Music: ***** Play Control/Game Design: **** Personal Opinion: **** Total: 20 out of 25 Final Score: 80 % **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None.
