Opening Remarks: One of the most highly regarded films of 1998 hits DVD. I'm not a big fan of Jim Carrey's work. I think the Ace Ventura and Dumb and Dumber films are very stupid and lame. I thought that The Mask was pretty good, though. Read further to find out what I think about this film.

Movie Quality: The Truman Show is an excellent film. Jim Carrey plays a man who is raised in a TV show. Everyone around him are actors and his world is a set. This is an excellent premise and it is pulled off very well. You feel very sorry for Carrey's character and want to see him break out of his celluloid prison. The actors give excellent performances and this film is a joy to watch. Some Carrey fans may be disappointed with this film due to the lack of his usual stupid slapstick. I don't miss it at all.

Video Quality: The Truman Show looks great. The video is presented in it's original aspect of 1.66:1 and it looks sweet. The picture is crystal clear and it's very colorful. This is the best way to see this film.

Sound Quality: The Truman Show sounds great. The music is a rather orchestral score that fits this movie very well. The dialogue is clear and there are some good uses of the Surround Sound.

Extras: The only extras on this disc are the trailers. The original theatrical trailer and the teaser trailer are on this disc. The animated menus are amazing and are probably the best menus that I have ever seen.

Improve: More extras.

RIYL: The Cable Guy(another serious Carrey film)

Overall Opinion: The Truman Show is an excellent film and this is the best way to see it. The lack of extras makes this film more of a rent than a buy. But if you want an excellent movie to add to your collection, then look no further.
