Virtua Fighter 2 Game by Sega Reviewed by Adrock gbcam@hotmail.com Save: Internal Released: 1995 **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: This game is 4 years old! With Virtua Fighter 3tb, Tekken 3, and a whole plethora of other fighters out, does this game still carry the flame? **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: Virtua Fighter 2 is an awesome game. The fighting is fluid and clear. Characters returning to the game are Akira Yuki, Lau Chan, Pai Chan, Kage-Maru, Jacky Bryant, Sarah Bryant, Jeffry McWild, and Wolf Hawkfield. Newcomers to the game are Lion Rafale, a Dicaprio wannabe, and Shun Di, a grumpy old alcoholic. Fighting in this game is solely based on three buttons, punch, kick, and defense. There are special moves, but none of them include shooting fireballs or bicycle kicks. Most of them are more like wrestling moves, like Jeffry's power bomb, and Wolf's power swing. (I love that move.) There are lots of options and modes of play, like Team Battle, Watch mode, Ranking mode, and expert mode. The amount of energy you get normally is absurdly small, but you can change it to whatever amount you want on the options screen, and you can even choose No Damage. (Cheater.) Liked: Awesome moves. Great fun. Hated: None. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: The polygons and resolution is very clean and clear. The backgrounds and images in the game are very good quality. There is a lot of draw in on the fighters, though, especially when close-up. Liked: Crisp, Clear Graphics. Hated: Some noticable draw-in. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: The music on this thing rocks. Lots of rock and pop medleys are to be found. This is one of the few game CD's I could pop into a discman for listening anywhere. The sound FX are very good and add excitement to the game. Liked: Awesome music and Sound FX. Top notch. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: Some of the moves are tough to execute, especially with the standard Saturn pad. But the controls basically remain smooth and responsive. Liked: Responsive controls. Hated: Tough to do some moves. **************************************************************************** Improve: More fighters and less draw-in. Lets see what 3tb can do... ?? RIYL: Tekken, Fighting Vipers, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat **************************************************************************** Final Words: This game is classic material for your Saturn. It's amazing the Saturn died off early with games like this on it's side. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: ***** Graphics: ***** Sound/Music: ***** Play Control/Game Design: ***** Personal Opinion: ***** Total: 25 out of 25 Final Score: %100 **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: "Shake Your Booty" On the character select screen pick Pai. Submitted by Techno3@concentric.net Dural Movie To watch the Dural movie, beat the entire game without losing a round on the hardest difficulty level. The easiest way to do this is to turn "Player 1 no damage" on, and change the ring size to 48m. Submitted by Joey Anderson Fight in Chicago with Jacky & Sarah If one player selects Jacky, and the other selects Sarah, you will fight in their hometown, Chicago. Submitted by Patrick Smith (rogerrs@msn.com) Jeffry's Teleport When Jeffry is playing against Shun, if Shun sits down Jeffry can teleport to shun from any distance by doing the Power Bomb. This can be done on any stage Submitted by Brian Mitchell More Options Beat the game with any character on any difficulty level and get the extra option screen. You can change the volume of the BGM so the sounds are a lot better, and you can stop those cheap losses (and wins) from Ring Out's by using an arena thats 42 meters wide! You also have some other options like level select, Replay length, Slow mode. Submitted by The GameDr Options+ Menu Go to the second Options screen, select THEME MUSIC and play LAU1.
