Wario Land 2 (Color) Game by Nintendo Reviewed by Adrock adam@dmgice.com Size: 8 Meg Save: Battery (Will format game if played from a GB to CGB or vice versa!) Released: 1998 Works with: Any Game Boy **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: The sequel to the Virtual Boy game. Forget trying to censor violence in video games! What about all the fat guys? **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: Hmm, I never played the original non-color version, but this game is great! One of the plus sides is the innovative "can't die" system. That's right, there are no lives. You will just lose coins when you get hit. There are some instances even, where you want to get hit! Wario will change forms, and can solve certain puzzles. Wario is once again trying to retreive his treasures. There is one set goal in each level that you must complete. Getting the treasures is optional. Using Wario's shoulder ram and butt-smash (?) moves, you can uncover coin rooms. Liked: You can't die! But the game can still be frustrating. Hated: Perhaps the game relies too much on coins. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: The color graphics are hella awesome. The intro and cut scenes are entertaining and peacefully spastic. It retains the look of the Game Boy and Virtual Boy games. No matter what kind of Game Boy you have, the graphics will look great. Loads of detail and framework are visually present through the game's quirky and fun design. Liked: Quirky. Detailed. Fun. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: The music and sound FX are... spectacular. No other game matches this one! With music and sound this good, you don't need a Rumble Pak! The music will change depending on where you are and what you are doing. Plus the enemies and power-ups have thier own unique sounds. Liked: Great innovative sound. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: Ooh, Wario is extra loose! I like it! Nothing like fat guys rolling around on the ground, all slippery and chubby! Whoa, there goes the doorway! Spin around, go back! Oh, too late... just fell in the current. Liked: Great, Nintendo standard controls. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Improve: I couldn't think of anything really. GB Printer compatible stuff? RIYL: Anything Mario or Wario. **************************************************************************** Final Words: This game is one of those great games. Another one of the games that I would choose as a pak in for Game Boy Color. Just like Tetris DX, and Zelda DX, Mario Bros. DX, and Power Quest, this is a great GBC game. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: ***** Graphics: ***** Sound/Music: ***** Play Control/Game Design: ***** Personal Opinion: ***** Total: 25 out of 25 Final Score: %100 **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None.
