Wolfenstein 3D Game by Interplay Reviewed by Robby Cox koi@magicnet.net Save: 3DO internal memory Released: 1995 Works with: N/A **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: I was a huge fan of Doom when I first played Wolfenstein 3D. I really loved the PC version of Wolf 3D. The reason that I bought this version is that it had a ton of new levels (to me anyway) and it was only $10. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: Wolf 3D is a first person shooter where it's you against the Nazis in WWII. You try to get from the level starting point to the elevator that will take you to the next level. There's also some boss levels. You start out with a knife, but you will soon get a pistol, machine gun, chaingun, and a bazooka to destroy the Nazi scum. Liked: Cool action. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: The graphics in Wolf 3D were great for their time. They're smooth and there's lots of background details. While this is a 3-D game, it like Doom is made of sprite graphics, not polygons. The enemies are fairly large and well-drawn. Liked: Cool backgrounds. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: W3D has some great music. It kinda sonds like a WWII movie score. The sound fx are good, but the voices of the guards rule. Liked: Cool voices. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: The controls of Wolf 3-D are great. It's an easy game to pick up and play, because you can get by with only using the D-pad and 2 action buttons. The game design is fine. Liked: Easy controls. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Improve: Analog control and better graphics. (Hey it sounds like a cool N64 game) RIYL: Doom, Quake, Goldeneye, Rise of the Triad. **************************************************************************** Final Words: Wolfenstein 3-D is a great game. The 3DO version is excellent due to the fact that you don't have to buy the expansion modules to experience the full Wolfenstein expereince. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: **** Graphics: *** Sound/Music: **** Play Control/Game Design: *** Personal Opinion: **** Total: 18 out of 25 Final Score: 76 % **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None
