Nyko Worm Light Accessory by Nyko. Reviewed by Adrock adam@dmgice.com Released: 1999 Use with: Game Boy Color and Game Boy Pocket. Size: Sticks 2 inches from side of GBC and sits 3 inches above the screen. Price (at time of review): $9.99 Color Choice (at time of review): Purple and Clear Purple +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Opening Snide Remarks: When I first saw this thing on IGN... it looked like a dream come true. Why have a backlit system... it's blurry. How about having a light hovering over your GB screen. $9.99, no batteries required, and the bulb will last a lifetime, with no need to replace it. There's nothing wrong with it. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Impressions: You expect me to say "But I was disappointed when... it's not all that good because..." Well, I am throughly happy with it. It's awesome. Nyko is going to make big bucks with this thing. I expect that Nintendo will come up with something similar to this in the near future. How it works, is you plug it into your Game Link slot in your Game Boy Color or Pocket. It has a small LED-type bulb on the end. The base of the wire is stiff, but movable, so that you can position the light perfectly on your screen. What kind of heavy, ugly magnifier/light can promise that? It comes in purple and clear purple. It has the Nyko logo on the top of the light and on the link port. The light itself is shaped like a spaceship... constructed in the form of a flat football. Hmm... that's K-Rad. Liked: A low price for such a great item. Needs no batteries of it's own, and consumes very little power from the Game Boy Color or pocket. Just simply looks cool. The bulb will never burn out, according to the box. Light is good not only for night, but anywhere, since sometimes in a car or in a dim-lit room, it is difficult to get a good position for play, Hated: Doesn't come in colors. It seems like the slighest movement makes it jiggle, but if you are deep into playing, you won't be able to tell a thing. Since it occupies your link space, you can't link up to another Game Boy while using the light. Nyko is working on different models where you can use the light and an extra port is on the light for a Game Link. This will no doubt cost more. Sigh. None of these reasons should keep you from buying the thing. I don't really care if I can't trade Pokémon in the dark. And who cares if it's a different color than my current Game Boy. If all your GB stuff matched... it would be bland, dull, and boring. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Improve: I guess make it in different colors, and make it link up. I don't really care though. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Final Words: I think... it's perfect. There are little nags about everything. But oh well. This has to be the must-own GB accesory of the decade. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Score: %100 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Secrets: With a universal link cable, you can use it on a DMG Model Game Boy.
