Chicago World's Fair Homes at Indiana Dunes in 2001
The Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore Park Service has spent a great deal of time, money, and effort in preserving the homes located on the shores of Lake Michigan. Originally the five homes pictured here were moved via barge across the lake at the close of the Chicago World's Fair in 1935. The Wieboldt-Rostone House, Florida Tropical House, Cypress Log Cabin, House of Tomorrow, and Armco-Ferro House have resided here for 70+ years. I took these photos in 2001. As you can see, the harsh winters have taken a toll on the homes. If you would like to see them as they were in the 30s, take a look at my other Century of Progress Homes of Tomorrow Exhibition site: http://webpages.marshall.edu/~brooks/HOT/
