Chicago Worlds Fair Homes of Tomorrow Exhibition. While the Park Service has tried to maintain them all these years, the harsh weather off of the lake has caused accelerated decay. Additionally, these homes were built as models for the exhibitionmany of which were built with experimental materials and never intended for a life-span much beyond the fair. As you can see, the Park Service has again leased the homes to individuals who have made a tremendous commitment to restore them. Workers and locals indicated that they are in the process of moving them to install basements and they are being repaired inside and out. I am amazed at how great they look and applaud those folks who are investing funds to preserve these historic relics. Stay tuned for their progress as I hope to visit them again when they are completely restored. Enjoy! Wieboldt-Rostone House
The exterior of this home was originally built with the pink tiles you see. The Rostone tiles didn't last and these are all that are left.
