How it Works: The Leica Shutter
The third in a series from 1982, this short article describes the operation of the shutter in the original screw-mount Leica (and dozens of copies).

Please note an error in the drawing below: The sketch at the right shows the OPENING curtain roller in FRONT, and the closing roller behind it. This is reversed: the CLOSING curtain roller is in front. The principles of operation are the same, but don't use this sketch as a guide to which shutter spring to tighten.... I apologize for any confusion.
