Covers

These are songs that I like, done by other artists, that I have turned into midi files.
(You could say they're "stolen", but I don't like to think of it that way.
Think of it more as a tribute to the artists.)
As I said on the previous page, the Rich Mullins midis were originally
for a page an internet friend of mine made (Calling Out Your Name)
but I am posting them here as well.

- A Few Good Men by Rich Mullins
Off his first CD (early 80's). Heavy on the guitars and keyboards. A nice catchy tune.
A far cry from "Awesome God" and "Step By Step". Took me forever to get the keyboard solo like I wanted it. Hope you like it.
- Heavenbound by D.C. Talk
The very first song off their very first album. If you follow their music,
this is a far cry from their "Supernatural" album -- back when "Hip Hop" was actually "Hip".
But it's still one of my fav's by them. Coming Soon!
- Hope to Carry On by Rich Mullins
I first heard this song from Caedmon's Call. Then I found out that Rich was the original writer.
This midi is my close approximation of his version of the song.
I'm still not satisfied with it, but I don't know what in particular needs to be changed (or I probably would've changed it.)
- Linus and Lucy by
Vince Guaraldi
The classic song from Charlie Brown and the Peanuts.
I've been playing this for a while on my keyboards, but it wasn't until recently that I made a midi of it.
(It also wasn't until recently that I realized that I was playing it in the wrong key.)
There is a little "Bridge" part that I haven't gotten to yet. Expect an update soon.
- Nothing but the Blood of Jesus performed by Rich Mullins
This song is sort of tacked on to the end of "The Jesus Record". It's the only "live" recording of a song by him.
It's pretty short, but it's a great way to end this CD.
- One More Chance by the Pet Shop Boys
I'm not really a fan of their music, but I like this song.
I first heard it the first time I saw David Copperfield live. (He used it in his "Appearance on a Motorcycle" trick.)
It's really strange, and I'm not exactly sure what to think about the lyrics.
But I included it for sentimental reasons (and because I didn't even want to attempt any of the Peter Gabriel songs D.C. used!)
Coming Soon!
- Up On the Roof by
James Taylor
This song isn't originally his (but I still always think of this song when I think of JT).
It was originally done by the Drifters, I think, in the 1960's.
But this midi is my rendition of his version (which is slightly different from The Drifter's version.)
This midi is a remake of the second midi I ever created. (The first was for my wife).
The original version of this song was lost when Patty the Packard Bell (our old computer) bit the dust.
This version is, in some ways, superior to my first version and in some ways inferior.
Either way, here it is.
- You Gotta Get Up (Christmas Song) by Rich Mullins
This is the only Christmas song Rich ever did, and this is the song that got me (back) into Rich's music.
I knew "Awesome God", "Step By Step", and maybe a few others. But when I heard this one, I was hooked.
Not sure what it was about the song -- it's a rather short, simple song, but something in it really got me.
So I thought it only fitting to make a midi of it and add that to my collection. Coming Soon!
