Profile: Bellerive Oval is Tasmania's cricket HQ. It is located right on the Eastern shore of the Derwent River opposite Hobart's CBD. Being a new HQ, all facilities are fairly modern. Ground capacity is approx. 15,000. The oval itself is fairly large in size, being comparable to the MCG, but has fairly short square boundaries. Curator Peter Stow tends to prepare pitches which yield quite a few runs yet are not totally dead - cf. the 1993 MCG tracks. Due to the ground's location, playing conditions are often dominated by the sea breeze.
