One of my favorites, a great show with excellent sound. There is a lot of clapping and a guy on the left sings awfully ABITW2!
Shine On You Crazy Diamond is parts I-V+VII.
PINK FLOYD - A PSYCHEDELIC NIGHT (2CDS) 12/22/70
PINK FLOYD - ATOM HEART MOTHER GOES ON THE ROAD PARIS THEATRE LONDON 1971 RUMORED
TO BE TAKEN FROM A FAIRLY OFFICIAL SOURCE IN NORWAY. THERE IS A SLIGHT DROP OUT APPROXIMATELY 17:00 INTO ATOM HEART MOTHER.
PINK FLOYD - AURORA SPECTRALIS - LIVE IN KNEBWORTH, UK 06/06/90
PINK FLOYD - AZIMUTH COORDINATOR (6 CDS) SOURCES; 08 APR 1975, 6JUL77, 7FEB80
CD1-2: 8 APR 75; PNE EXHIBITION PARK, VANCOUVER, BC CD3-4: 6 JUL 77; OLYMPIC TADIUM, MONTREAL, QUEBEC CD5-6: 7 FEB 80; SPORTS
ARENA, LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA. OVERALL I WOULD HAVE TO GIVE IT A VG. AT TIMES IT PUSHES A VG+. THE PROBLEM I HAVE IS THE
HISS, ESPECIALLY WITH THE 1975 SHOW. I THINK THE STEREO SEPARATION COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER WITH THE 1975 SHOW. THE HISS SEEMS
TO BE REDUCED WITH EACH SHOW. EXCELLENT ECHOES FOR 1975. (I'M STILL LOOKING FOR THE DEFINITIVE 75 SHOW.) THE 1977 SHOW IS
GOOD, BUT THE CROWD IS REALLY WILD AND RUDE. THEY PISS ROGER OFF DURING POTW AND US AND THEM. MORE CROWD NOISE FOR THE 1977
SHOW. THE WALL SHOW WAS ACTUALLY BETTER THAN I HEARD ON A PREVIOUS TIME. ORIGINALLY I THOUGHT IT WAS AS BAD AS THE REHEARSALS,
BUT IT IS MUCH BETTER THAN THAT (STILL NOT AS GOOD AS BEHIND THE WALL). THESE SHOWS REFLECT A GREAT PERIOD FOR FLOYD; TOO
BAD I DIDN'T CATCH THEM LIVE. UNFORTUNATELY, I WOULD HAVE PREFERRED LESS HISS! FOR THIS ERA. I CAN'T COMPLAIN THOUGH, I TRADED
FOR THE SET. FOR ME IT WAS WORTH IT.
PINK FLOYD - BLACK GLASS (2CDS) I FIND THE CONCERT MATERIAL LISTENABLE BUT,
FOR THE MOST PART, NOT ESPECIALLY ENJOYABLE, NOTCHING ABOUT A VG. THE PERFORMANCE IS COMPETENT BUT NOT TERRIBLY EXCITING (WITH
CERTAIN EXCEPTIONS, MENTIONED BELOW), THOUGH THE BAND SEEMS IN A VERY GOOD MOOD. MANY OF THE SONGS HAVE AN "ECHO" EFFECT ON
THE VOCALS, AND ON GM AND GITC IT'S KIND OF ANNOYING. SEVERAL SONGS (CYMBALINE AND STCFTHOTS ESPECIALLY) HAVE UP TO 2 FULL
MINUTES OF TUNING, EQUIPMENT ADJUSTMENTS AND THE LIKE, WHICH THOUGH THEY MAY ADD TO AUTHENTICITY, COULD EASILY HAVE BEEN CUT
OR RE-INDEXED. IN REGARD TO SOUND QUALITY, I PREFER NEARLY ANY TRACK ON "TOTAL ECLIPSE" (FOR EXAMPLE, COMPARE THE TRACKS FROM
PEPPERLAND); THERE'S JUST ABOUT NO AUDIENCE NOISE, SAVE BETWEEN SONGS, AND THE INSTRUMENTS AND VOCALS ARE ALWAYS QUITE AUDIBLE,
BUT THERE'S A SIZEABLE AMOUNT OF HISS, SOME DISTORTION, AND THE SOUND IS SOMEWHAT "COMPRESSED", MUFFLED AND MURKY, THOUGH
IT IS STEREO. IT ALMOST SOUNDS AS IF SOMEONE MADE A REALLY GREAT SOUNDBOARD RECORDING (I HEAR JUST ABOUT NO AUDIENCE NOISE
ON THIS SET), AND THEN HIGH-SPEED-DUBBED A FOURTH- OR FIFTH-GENERATION COPY. ALSO, A LITTLE MORE THAN HALF OF THE MATERIAL
IS TOO FAST (THOUGH IT ISN'T REALLY OBJECTIONABLE): GRANTCHESTER MEADOWS, ASTRONOMY DOMINE, AND GITC/CWTAE ARE ALL 1/2 STEP
SHARP, CYMBALINE AND EMBRYO ARE ABOUT 1/4 STEP SHARP, AND AHM, STC AND ASOS ARE FINE. AS TO EDITS AND CUTS, GM IS FADED IN
JUST AFTER THE BEGINNING OF THE SONG (BUT BEFORE THE VERSE), AS IS EMBRYO. FRUSTRATINGLY, THE TWO MOST INTERESTING TRACKS
ARE ALSO THE MOST CHOPPED: STC IS FADED IN ABOUT HALFWAY THROUGH THE SONG, AND ASOS IS FADED OUT ONLY SECONDS INTO SYNCOPATED
PANDEMONIUM. STC ALSO SUFFERS SOME STRANGE "SHIFTS" IN SOUND, AS IF ONE STEREO CHANNEL HAD DROPPED OUT AND THE OTHER ONE HAD
BEEN PANNED CENTER (I.E. THE SOUND JUMPS INTO MONO); THIS HAPPENS VERY BRIEFLY AT 1:07 AND 1:12, AND FOR A LONGER PERIOD AT
1:19-1:41. DESPITE THEIR PROBLEMS, THOUGH, FOR ME THESE TRACKS ARE THE HIGH POINTS OF THE CONCERT; THE QUIET, "FREE" SECTION
AFTER THE CLIMAX OF STC IS WONDERFUL, AND WHAT WE HAVE OF ASOS IS FAIRLY IMPRESSIVE -- LESS FORMULAIC THAN IN MANY OTHER PERFORMANCES,
WITH GILMOUR IN PARTICULAR EXPANDING THE INTRODUCTION TO MUCH LONGER THAN USUAL. IT'S THE SORT OF THING I COULD LISTEN TO
FOR HOURS, ESPECIALLY IF THE SOUND QUALITY WERE BETTER. EMBRYO IS ALSO SOMEWHAT INTERESTING, DESPITE SHIFTING RECORDING LEVELS
NEAR THE BEGINNING, WITH A STRANGE MIDDLE SECTION THAT IS FAIRLY DIFFERENT FROM THE STUDIO OR THE SEPT. 16, 1970 VERSIONS;
AND CWTAE (WHICH HAS MORE SEVERE PROBLEMS WITH THE LEVELS, ESPECIALLY RIGHT BEFORE 8:00 AND 11:15) HAS SOME WILD VOCALS (MORE
SO THAN USUAL!) BEFORE THE SCREAMING STARTS. ON THE OTHER HAND, GILMOUR BUGGERS GITC UP FAIRLY ROYALLY; HE SWITCHES THE 2ND
AND 3RD VERSES AND MISSES THE BEGINNING OF THE 3RD VERSE, AND HIS VOICE CRACKS SEVERAL TIMES ON HIGH NOTES (THOUGH RIGHT AFTER
THAT, HE SINGS AS HIGH AS I'VE EVER HEARD HIM SING ON HIS GUITAR SOLO, SO GO FIGURE). GM IS DISAPPOINTING, AD IS HAMPERED
BY LOW LEVELS, AND CYMBALINE IS A STANDARD RENDITION WITH A NOTICEABLY SHORT FOOTSTEPS SEQUENCE AND *LOUD* (OCCASIONAL DISTORTION)
VOCALS. BY THE WAY, AT THE BEGINNING OF AHM, WHILE ROGER'S TALKING, RICK WRIGHT MAKES SOME SORT OF MUSICAL JOKE TO THE AUDIENCE,
BUT I DON'T GET IT -- ANYONE KNOW WHAT THE REFERENCE IS? NOW ON TO THE STUDIO MATERIAL. FIRST WE HAVE TWO ALTERNATE VERSIONS
OF "ONE OF THESE DAYS", OSTENSIBLY OUT-TAKES FROM THE MEDDLE ALBUM. BOTH ARE OF VG/VG+ SOUND QUALITY, A SHADE BETTER THAN
THE CONCERT MATERIAL BUT NOT ENOUGH TO MATTER, AND NEITHER HAS ANY SPEED PROBLEMS. I'M NOT GOING TO GET MIXED UP IN THE DEBATE
OVER WHETHER THESE ARE GENUINE -- I BELIEVE THEM TO BE FAKES -- BUT MUSICALLY, THEY'RE COMPLETELY UNINTERESTING AND NOT WORTH
YOUR TIME. NOW WE'RE OFFERED A SUPPOSED OUT-TAKE FOR ECHOES. WELL, I LISTENED TO THIS ONE FAIRLY CAREFULLY, AND AS FAR AS
I CAN TELL, IT IS LITERALLY NOTHING MORE THAN A DIRECT COPY OF THE ALBUM VERSION, WITHOUT EVEN A *HINT* OF ALTERATION SAVE
THAT THE BEGINNING IS BUGGERED UP AND THE ENDING IS FADED OUT, BUT WITH THE SAME THIN, HISSY SOUND AS THE REST OF THESE TRACKS
-- AND, TO TOP IT ALL OFF, IT'S TOO FAST, CLOCKING IN AT A HALF-STEP SHARP. A FAKE, AND A DUMB ONE AT THAT. SOYCD IS ALSO
A FRAUD, BUT AT LEAST IT'S A LITTLE TRICKIER. THE SOUND IS BETTER ON THIS ONE, MAYBE SCRAPING AN EX-, AND IT'S A LITTLE BIT
SLOW, PERHAPS A QUARTER-STEP. IT FADES IN AT THE BEGINNING OF PART 2 AND BACK OUT EARLY IN PART 8 (I BELIEVE). ITS CLAIM TO
FAME IS THAT THE TWO HALVES OF THE SONG ARE EDITED TOGETHER, WITH ALL THE VERSES APPEARING SEQUENTIALLY, BRIDGED BY THE SAME
GUITAR LINE THAT ORIGINALLY PRECEDES ONE OF THEM. OTHERWISE THE TRACK IS IDENTICAL TO THE WYWH VERSION. NOW, I DON'T OWN A
COLLECTION OF GREAT DANCE SONGS, BUT SOYCD IS ON THAT ALBUM AS A SINGLE TRACK, THE TWO HALVES HAVING BEEN JOINED ON THAT ALBUM
AS WELL; I'M INCLINED TO GUESS THAT THIS IS NOTHING MORE THAN A COPY OF THAT CUT. EVEN IF IT'S NOT LIFTED FROM ACOGDS, ANY
IDIOT WITH DECENT DIGITAL AUDIO SOFTWARE ON HIS COMPUTER COULD EASILY HAVE PULLED THOSE EDITS OFF. EITHER WAY, IT'S LAME.
FINALLY, HERE COMES SANTA. BACK TO VG/VG+ SOUND, AND IT *MIGHT* BE A TOUCH FAST (THOUGH I HAVE NOTHING TO WHICH TO REFER TO
VERIFY THAT SAVE TRADITIONAL CONCERT TUNING). IT SEEMS AUTHENTIC (WHO WOULD FAKE SOMETHING LIKE THIS?), AND IT'S FUNNY THE
FIRST TIME YOU HEAR IT -- BUT YOU'VE GOT TO BE PRETTY DIE-HARD TO WANT TO PAY ROIO PRICES FOR THIS SORT OF THING. BLACK GLASS
SITS SQUARELY ON THE LINE THAT DIVIDES ROIOS OF HISTORICAL/COMPLETIST VALUE FROM ROIOS YOU ACTUALLY LISTEN TO MORE THAN ONCE.
THE CONCERT MATERIAL IS QUITE INTERESTING AT ITS BEST, BUT THE MEDIOCRE SOUND, SPEED PROBLEMS AND ANNOYING EDITS KEEP IT FROM
BEING MORE THAN AN OCCASIONAL LISTEN; THE STUDIO MATERIAL, HOWEVER, IS MOSTLY FAKE OR DUBIOUS, AND THOUGH IT WAS A LAUDABLE
DECISION TO INCREASE THE RUNNING TIME OF THE SET BY 40 MINUTES OVER THE TSP RELEASE, THE FRAUDULENT NATURE OF THIS "FILLER"
MATERIAL REALLY DRAGS DOWN THE OVERALL IMPRESSION OF THIS.
PINK FLOYD - BYTES OF THE TALISMAN THIS IS A GREAT BOOT. THERE IS STRONG BASS
THROUGHOUT THE RECORDING, ALTHOUGH IT IS SOMETIMES SLIGHTLY DISTORTED. THERE IS NO AUDIENCE NOISE AND THE RECORDING IS QUITE
CLEAN. NO DROP OUTS. IT MUST HAVE BEEN TAKEN FROM VINYL, AS POPS CAN BE HEARD, BUT THEY ARE BARELY PERCEPTABLE. EMBRYO IS
FANTASTIC WITH A SQUEALING GUITAR LIKE THE ONE IN THE STRANGE MIDDLE PART OF ECHOES. THE SCREAM IN CAREFUL WITH THAT AXE SEEMS
TO HANG FOREVER, A GOOD EFFECT. ONE OF THESE DAYS AND ECHOES ARE ALSO QUITE NICE. THE LINE "ONE OF THE DAYS, I'M GOING..."
APPEARS AT THE END OF THE SONG RATHER THAN THE MIDDLE. NOTE: THIS INFORMATION WAS DERIVED FROM A SECOND GENERATION TAPE (AND
THUS THE QUALITY OF THE ORIGINAL MAY BE BETTER THAN EX). I CANNOT BE POSITIVE THAT IT IS BYTES, BUT I KNOW THAT IT IS FROM
OCT. 3, 1971. IT COULD HAVE BEEN MADE FROM A VINYL SOURCE, BUT IF THE CD IS TAKEN FROM THE SAME SOURCE, IT IS NO DOUBT WONDERFUL.
RECORDING TAKEN FROM VINYL AS EVIDENCED BY POPS AND STATIC. OTHERWISE, GOOD SOUND; NOT GREAT.
PINK FLOYD - CAREFUL WITH THAT RANT (2CDS) 11/29/72
PINK FLOYD - DARKSIDE REHEARSALS (2CDS), THE DOME, BRIGHTON, UK 01/20/72 THIS
IS A RECORDING OF THE PREMIER SHOW OF DSOTM. DUE TO SOME EQUIPMENT FAILURE, THE DSOTM PART IS ABANDONED A COUPLE OF MINUTES
INTO MONEY. THEY CONTINUE WITH OLDER MATERIAL. A NICE SPEAK TO ME INCLUDES THE SOUNDS OF THE CASH REGISTER AND COWS LOW'ING.
THE GUY WHO TAPED THE SHOW IS OBVIOUSLY VERY IMPRESSED WITH WHAT HE SEE'S UP ON STAGE, AS HE COMMENTATE WITH; "LOOK AT THAT.
BRILLIANT... FUCKING JESUS!" DURING SPEAK TO ME. ON THE RUN IS THE JAM VERSION, TIME IS VERY SLOW (WITH GILMOUR HUMMING ON
THE GUITAR SOLO) AND TGGITS HAS THE PREACHER TAPE. SOUND QUALITY IS QUITE GOOD, THOUGH THERE IS SOME TAPE HISS EVIDENT AND
IT SOUNDS LIKE THE TAPE USED WAS GOING A BIT SLOW (BUT I'M NOT SURE). VERY LITTLE AUDIENCE NOISE. A TRULY HISTORIC RECORDING.
PINK FLOYD - DARKSIDE OF RADIO CITY RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL 03/17/73 PARIS 1968
1ST TWO SONGS (2 CDS) ANOTHER COMPLETE SHOWS FROM THE 73 TOUR (MINUS CHILDHOOD'S END??) AS PERFORMED IN NEW YORK CITY, ACCORDING
TO THE PACKAGE. THE DATE AND LOCATION MATCH WITH MILES ACCOUNTING. SOUNDS GREAT, ALMOST LIKE A BARE MIX FROM A SOUNDBOARD.
ALL INSTRUMENTS COME IN CLEAR AND SHARP WITHOUT STADIUM/THEATRE REVERB. THE QUALITY OF THE TWO SONGS SUPPOSEDLY FROM PARIS
68 ARE NOT AS CLEAN, BUT DEFINITELY ENJOYABLE (VG- MAYBE).
PINK FLOYD - ECLIPSE OBVIOUSLY TAKEN FROM A VINYL SOURCE. POPS AND OTHER NOISE
CAN BE HEARD. ECHOES IS PLAGUED BY AN ANNYING HISS. ALSO, THE TRACK NUMBERS ARE SLIGHTLY SCREWED UP.
PINK FLOYD - EXPERIMENTAL ENERGY Disc (54:28m)
1. RAVING AND DROOLING (10:24m)
2.
YOU GOTTA BE CRAZY (13:45m)
3. SHINE ON YOU CRAZY DIAMOND (1-5) (13:03m)
4. HAVE A CIGAR (4:53m)
5. SHINE ON YOU
CRAZY DIAMOND (6-9) (12:23m)
PINK FLOYD - THE FILM THE QUALITY IS SUPERIOR TO ANY OTHER ROIO I HAVE LISTENED
TO. YET, NOT BEING A LIVE PERFORMANCE, AND BEING STUDIO OUTTAKES, THIS IS UNDERSTANDABLE. THIS IS IN STEREO, AND ALL THE SONGS
COME STRAIGHT OUT OF THE MOVIE, AND ALMOST IN THAT ORDER. THERE ARE NO CATALOG NUMBERS TO BE FOUND ANYWHERE, BUT AROUND THE
SPINDLE HOLE "MITSUI GOLD" CAN BE FOUND. IT HAS COME TO MY ATTENTION THAT MITSUI GOLD IS A TYPE OF RECORDABLE CD, AND THE
CD IS ACTUALLY A GOLD CD. TOTAL TIME FOR THE CD IS 72:56, BUT MY CD PLAYER IS NOT CAPABLE OF FINDING THE TIMES OF SONGS OVER
20 TRACKS. TRACK 11 AND 12 IS SPLIT ON THE CD PLAYER, BUT ARE ACTUALLY THE FIRST AND SECOND PART OF "ONE OF MY TURNS." AT
THE BEGINNING OF "COMFORTABLY NUMB", AUDIBLE SPEAKER POPS CAN BE HEARD IN THE RIGHT CHANNEL, BUT GO AWAY AFTER A SECOND OR
SO.
PINK FLOYD - GREEN IS THE COLOR 09/17/69 CONCERTGEBOUW, AMSTERDAM EXCELLENT
PERFORMANCE, FROM EVERY POINT OF VIEW. THE SOUND QUALITY HAS BEEN IMPROVED RESPECT TO THE VINYL RELEASE. INTERESTING DOCUMENTATION
HAS A PERIOD IN, WHICH IMPROVISATION PLAYED A GREAT ROLE.
PINK FLOYD - FEB/11/70 *TOWN HALL, BIRMINGHAM, UK ("THE AMAZING PUDDING") (2
CDS)THE VIOLENT SEQUENCE" HERE IS ACTUALLY A 5-PART SUITE, MUCH LIKE THE MAN OR THE JOURNEY, AND COMPRISES THE FOLLOWING:
I. HEART BEAT, PIG MEAT. 2. SLEEP 3. KEYBOARD JAM 4. MOONHEAD 5. THE VIOLENT SEQUENCE (US & THEM INSTRUMENTAL).
PINK FLOYD - GIANTS AT THE GIANTS 07/17/94 (2CDS) VERY GOOD AUDIENCE RECORDING
OF ONE OF THE FIRST DSOTM'94 SHOWS. THE SOUND QUALITY IS AT LEAST AS GOOD AS ON 'THE LIVE BELL', PLAY IT LOUD, CLOSE YOUR
EYES, AND YOU ARE AT GIANTS STADIUM. AUDIENCE CAN BE HEARD, BUT MAINLY IN BETWEEN SONGS. VERY NICE ARE DAVE'S COMMENTS AFTER
THE DSOTM-SET; IN WHICH HE THANKS ROGER WATERS! IF YOU WANT A USA-DSOTM'94 CD
PINK FLOYD - HOLES IN THE SKY (2 CDS) IVOR WYNNE STADIUM, HAMILTON, ONTARIO,
CANADA. A GREAT RECORDING OF AN EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE. THERE IS ONE OR TWO SLOPPY EDITS, BUT NOTHING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT, AS
NOTHING APPEARS TO BE EDITED OUT. THE SOUND IS VERY FULL AND CLEAR WITH NEXT TO NO HISS. THE MIX IS NOT PERFECT; ALTHOUGH
IT IS VERY WELL BALANCED. YOU COULDN'T EXPECT MUCH MORE FROM AN AUDIENCE RECORDING FROM THE MID 70'S. THE CROWD IS A LITTLE
ROWDY, BUT MAINLY ONLY BETWEEN SONGS, HENCE IT IS NOT INTRUSIVE. IMHO THIS SHOW IS CLEARLY SUPERIOR TO THE BOSTON SHOW FOUND
ON "CRAZY DIAMONDS" (WHICH IS CONSIDERED BY MANY TO BE THE DEFINITIVE '75 SHOW), AND IT IS POSSIBLY THE BEST '75 SHOW I'VE
HEARD, CONSIDERING BOTH THE PERFORMANCE AND SOUND QUALITY. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CD.
PINK FLOYD - IN CELEBRATION OF THE COMET (THE COMING OF KAHOTEK) LONDON AT THE
RAINBOW THEATRE 02/17/72
PINK FLOYD - IN THE FLESH (2CDS) A GOOD CD CONSIDERING THE AGE OF THE RECORDING,
AND ESPECIALLY SINCE IT CONTAINS THE COMPLETE SHOW, AND COMPLETE ANIMALS AND WISH YOU WERE HERE.

PINK FLOYD - LIVE AT THE ELECTRIC FACTORY (2CDS) (SEPTEMBER 26, 1970 AT PHILADELPHIA)-2
CD-AUD-EXCELLENT. THIS AN EXCELLENT AUDIENCE RECORDING. THE PERFORMANCE IS MOSTLY INSTRUMENTAL.
PINK FLOYD - MEDDLER 09/30/71 - PARIS CINEMA, LONDON THIS IS THE COMPLETE BROADCAST,
WITH THE EMBRYO AND INSTRUMENTAL BLUES TRACK MISSING FROM OTHER ROIOS OF THIS SHOW. SOUND IS FANTASTIC THROUGHOUT. THE EMBRYO
AND BLUES ARE FROM A DIFFERENT SOURCE THAN THE FIRST THREE TRACKS, AND IS SUBSEQUENTLY OF DIFFERENT SOUND QUALITY, BUT STILL
GREAT SOUNDING NONE THE LESS. THE ONLY DRAWBACK (TO SOME) IS THAT THE DISC IS IN MONO. I REALLY DIDN'T NOTICE, AS I WAS FAR
TOO BUSY ENJOYING THE CRISPER, CLEARER SOUND.

PINK FLOYD - PINK PIECES - SONGS AND OUT-TAKES FROM ZABRISKIE POINT
PINK FLOYD - PLAYS THE ANIMALS (2CDS) UP TO THIS TIME, I THOUGHT THAT "IN THE
FLESH" WAS THE BEST RECORDING FROM THE 1977 TOUR. WELL GUESS WHAT, I THINK I MIGHT HAVE BEEN WRONG. I JUST PURCHASED "PLAYS
THE ANIMALS", AND LIKE IT MUCH MORE THAN BOTH "OAKLAND" AND "IN THE FLESH". WITH THE EXCEPTION OF SOME LOUD NOISES DURING
"WISH YOU WERE HERE", THE SOUND QUALITY IS EXCEPTIONAL, ESPECIALLY FOR AN AUDIENCE RECORDING. THIS IS THE COMPLETE SHOW FROM
THE MAY 9, 1977 OAKLAND SHOW, WHICH INCLUDES "CAREFUL WITH THAT AXE, EUGENE". A DEFINITE MUST HAVE
PINK FLOYD - RHAPSODY IN PINK
PINK FLOYD - SMOKING BLUES (2CDS) THIS IS A SOUNDBOARD RECORDING AND WELL WORTH
SEEKING OUT, BUT ONE CAN SEE WHY IT WAS NOT RELEASED. DAVE HAS ONE OF HIS TRADEMARK LAUGHING ATTACKS DURING FOS. DURING THE
CLOSING SEGMENT OF CYMBALINE (AFTER THE FOOTSTEPS SEQUENCE) THERE IS A PARTICULARLY BAD AND PROLONGED PROBLEM WITH THE SOUND
SYSTEM, CAUSING DAVE TO BURST INTO LAUGHTER ONCE AGAIN. ROGER INTRODUCES THE SHOW WITH A 'GOOD MORNING' AND INTRODUCES MORE
BLUES WITH REMARKS ABOUT IT BEING 'TOO LATE FOR MIND EXPANDING MUSIC, SO WE'LL PLAY SOME MUSIC TO CALM DOWN BY,' PRESAGING
HIS WORDS YEARS LATER BEFORE THE CONCLUDING ENCORE OF THE INFAMOUS MONTREAL '77 CONCERT.
PINK FLOYD - TOTAL ECLIPSE (4 CDS) TOTAL ECLIPSE WAS CONCEIVED IN 1993, WELL
INTO GREAT DANE'S AMBITIOUS "PINK FLOYD PROJECT." GREAT DANE HAD WANTED TO PUT OUT A BOX SET THT WOULD APPEAL TO THE FANS
WHO HAD BEEN TERRIBLE DISSAPPOINTED WITH "SHINE ON", PINK FLOYD'S OFFICIAL RELEASE. IT'S PURPOSE WAS TO ATTEMPT TO BRING TO
THE FANS A COMPREHENSIVE OVERVIEW OF THE BAND'S CAREER, SUBSTITUTING RARE MATERIAL AND ALTERNATIVE TRACKS WHEREVER POSSIBLE.
THIS IS THE REASON WHY MANY OF THE EARLY SINGLES AND B-SIDES WERE INCLUDED (WHICH MANY POEOPLE QUESTION). MUCH "TOP GEAR"
MATERIAL WAS ALSO INCLUDED BECAUSE NOT ONLY WERE THE SOUND SOURCES BELIEVED TO BE THE BETTER THAN ON LY PREVIOUSLY RELEASED
ROLO, BUT ALSO BECAUSE IT SEEMED THAT THESE TRACKS SHOULD ALSO BE REPRESENTED IN THE BAND'S HISTORY. TOTAL ECLIPSE WAS MEANT
TO BE CHRONOLOGICAL (ALTHOUGH A FEW TRACKS ARE OUT OF OURDER) AND COMPREHENSIVE; SOMETHING THAT COULD BE LISTENED TO FROM
BEGINNING TO END.
PINK FLOYD - VIOLENCE IN BIRMINGHAM - 02/11/70, LUND SWEDEN 03/20/70 & WEST
BERLIN, GERMANY 03/13/70 THIS IS THE FIRST TIME (THAT I KNOW OF) THAT THIS SIGNIFICANT SHOW HAS BEEN AVAILABLE ON CD. THIS
SHOW IS SIGNIFICANT FOR SEVERAL REASONS. FIRST, IT CONTAINS A VERY EARLY PERFORMANCE OF ATOM HEART MOTHER AND EMBRYO (I HAD
NOT REALIZED UNTIL JUST NOW THAT EMBRYO HAD ITS CONCERT DEBUT AT THE SAME TIME AS AHM, PLUS OR MINUS A SHOW OR TWO) THIS SHOW
WOULD BE AROUND THE 10TH OR SO PERFORMANCE OF EACH SONG, SO IT'S INTERESTING TO COMPARE THESE EARLY PERFORMANCES TO LATER
ONES. THE SECOND REASON WHY THIS SHOW IS SO IMPORTANT IS THAT IT CONTAINS SEVERAL RARELY PERFORMED SONGS; SYSYPHUS, THE VIOLENT
SEQUENCE, AND MAIN THEME (FROM MORE). EACH OF THESE SONGS HAD ONLY A HANDFUL OF PERFORMANCES. THE FACT THAT ALL THREE WERE
PLAYED IN BIRMINGHAM IS SIGNIFICANT, ESPECIALLY SINCE THERE ARE ONLY TWO DOCUMENTED SHOWS WHERE THIS OCCURRED. IT APPEARS
THAT THIS SHOW WAS THE FINAL PERFORMANCE OF SYSYPHUS, AS WELL AS ONE OF THE LAST FOR THE OTHER TWO. THE VIOLENT SEQUENCE WAS
GIVEN A VERY LENGTHY PERFORMANCE, AT 25:32 MINUTES (PROBABLY ITS LONGEST). THE MARCH 13, 1970 BLUES IS ONE OF THE EARLIEST
PERFORMANCES OF THIS SONG. I'M NOT SURE IF ANYONE ELSE BUT ME CARES ABOUT THIS SORT OF INFORMATION, BUT I JUST LOVE IT.
PINK FLOYD - WALL DEMOS AWESOME VERSION OF COMFORTABLY NUMB. DIFFERENT LYRICS
AND AWESOME GUITAR WORK.
PINK FLOYD - THE WALL LIVE UNIONDALE, NY (2CDS)
PINK FLOYD - WELCOME TO THE MACHINE - MADISON SQUARE GARDEN, NEW YORK, 07/02/77
PINK FLOYD - WESTWOOD ONE (2 CDS) RADIO SHOW COMPLETE WITH COMMERCIALS.
PINK FLOYD - YEESHKUL! LIVE AT THE MAPLE LEAF GARDENS TORONTO, CANADA 03/11/73
AN EXCELLENT 2-CDR SET OF THE SHOW FROM MARCH 11, 1973 AT THE MAPLE LEAF GARDENS IN TORONTO. THIS SHOW HAS LONG BEEN WELL
KNOWN AMONG FLOYD FANS AS A VERY STRONG PERFORMANCE BY THE BOYS, BUT REMARKABLY HAS NEVER MADE IT TO DISC UNTIL NOW. THIS
SET EVIDENTLY GETS ITS TITLE FROM THE MAN WHO SHOUTS SOMETHING LIKE "YEESHKUL!" (I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT MEANS) AT LEAST SIX
OR SEVEN TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF THE SHOW. FORTUNATELY, HE ALMOST NEVER SHOUTS IT DURING THE SONGS, AND OVERALL AUDIENCE
INTERFERENCE IS MINIMAL DURING THIS WHOLE SHOW. AND A HELL OF A SHOW IT IS, ESPECIALLY THE FIRST SET, WHICH IS ONE OF THE
BEST SETS I'VE EVER HEARD FROM THE DARK SIDE-ERA FLOYD. SOUND QUALITY IS VERY HIGH; WHOEVER DID THIS ONE TOOK A LOT OF CARE
OVER IT, AND IT SHOWS -- IT SOUNDS DECIDEDLY BETTER THAN MY TAPE, WHICH IS PRETTY GOOD AS IT IS. THERE'S ALMOST NO HISS OR
DISTORTION, AND THE SPEED IS PERFECT. (OF COURSE IT'S NOT A PROFESSIONAL RECORDING, BUT IT'S STILL QUITE GOOD FOR A 25-YEAR-OLD
AUDIENCE TAPE.) THERE'S A SMALL EDIT IN GREAT GIG IN THE SKY, BUT IT'S HANDLED NICELY, AND DOESN'T REALLY DISRUPT THE SONG
TOO MUCH AT ALL. (ECHOES ALSO CUT IN A MINUTE OR SO INTO THE SONG, SHORTLY BEFORE THE DRUMS ENTER.) THE STEREO IMAGING ON
THIS TAPE IS UNUSUALLY GOOD, WITH PARTS OF SET THE CONTROLS FOR THE HEART OF THE SUN FEATURING SOME OF THE BEST STEREO EFFECTS
I'VE HEARD ON AN AUDIENCE TAPE (AND SOME SAY IT'S THE BEST VERSION OF SET THE CONTROLS EVER) ALL IN ALL, A GREAT SET!
GILMOUR, DAVID - NO WAY OUT. 1984
