LENNON, JOHN - CLOCK SOUND QUALITY IS GOOD TO VERY GOOD. THE MATERIAL IS MORE FOR THE DIE-HARD LENNON-COLLECTOR WITH HISTORICAL
INTEREST THAN THE ONE WHO WANTS A PIECE FOR JOYFULL LISTENING. THE TRACKS WERE RECORDED IN MID-SEPTEMBER 1971 IN A SUITE OF
THE ST. REGIS HOTEL, NYC. THE COVER NOTICE "JUNE 1971" IS WRONG. IT'S THE SOUNDTRACK FOR THE FILM "CLOCK". IN WHICH ONE CAN
SEE AN HOUR PASSING BY ON A WATCH ON THE HOTEL WALL. THE SOUNDTRACK CONSISTS OF YOKO'S PHONE CALLS, WHO JUST COMPILED EXPONATES
FOR HER EXHIBITION "THIS IS NOT HERE" IN EVERSON ARTS MUSEUM IN SYRACUSE/NEW YORK IN OCTOBER 1971. YOU CAN HEAR HER PERMANENTLY
CHATTING ON THE PHONE IN THE BACKGROUND WHILE JOHN PLAYS SOME OF HIS FAVE SONGS FROM THE 50'S ON ACOUSTIC GUITAR. THE FILM
PREMIERED AT THE EVERSON EXHIBTION. THIS CD - ALBEIT VERY SHORT - IS VERY INTERESTING. THE MATERIAL COMES FROM A TAPE SOURCE
(FILM?) AND CONTAINS SOME NEW TRACKS OF THIS SOUNDTRACK, NOT KNOWN BY NAME 'TILL NOW. AND IN COMPARISON TO THE ALREADY AVAILABLE
TRACKS ON OTHER BOOTLEGS, THERE ARE LONGER INTROS & OUTROS AND MORE CHAT ON THIS CD. THOSE TRACKS, SAID TO BELONG TO THIS
SOUNDTRACK: "SEND ME SOME LOVIN' " (CD DREAMING OF THE PAST BZW. LP LLT10, "J. J. (ANGELA)" (CD SERVE YOURSELF BZW. LP LLT21),
"NEW YORK CITY" (LP LLT10) SOUND VERY DIFFERENT IN THEIR HOLE 'PICTURE". EVEN "NOT FADE AWAY" (ON LP LLT8) SOUNDS SLIGHTLY
DIFFERENT. IMO THEY DON'T BELONG TO THIS TAPE. MAYBE THEY WERE AT THE FILM SOUNDTRACK, BUT NOT FROM THE SAME RECORDING SITUATION.
THE TAPE OFFERS HALF AN HOUR, WITH A MENTION OF "THAT'S WHAT HAPPENED TO A QUARTER TO..." DURING TRACK 7, SO IT SEEMS TO BE
THE 2ND HALF OF THE FILMED HOUR. THE FIRST HALF HAS NOT APPEARED 'TILL NOW.

LENNON, JOHN - COMPOSITIONS ON THEIR LATEST RELEASE, VIGITONE LETS US LISTEN TO JOHN LENNON'S HOME DEMO'S, RECORDED ON
A TAPE RECORDER IN THE LATE FALL OF 1970, ACCORDING TO THE BOOKLET'S NOTES. I THOUGHT I KNEW A LOT OF LENNON BOOTLEGS, SO
IT CAME AS A NICE SURPRISE TO FIND THAT MANY VERSIONS WERE NEW TO ME. THE RECORDINGS ARE IN GOOD MONO, THEIR QUALITY IS CERTAINLY
ACCEPTABLE. AS MY COMMENTS IN THE TRACK LIST SHOW, A BUNCH OF SONGS APPEARED ON WALRUS' LOST LENNON CD'S, BUT THE VERSIONS
HERE ARE LONGER AND THEIR SOUND QUALITY IS BETTER. OVERALL, THE CD IS RATHER MONOTONOUS AND YOU MIGHT NOT WANT TO LISTEN TO
IT EVERY DAY. IT'S JUST JOHN LENNON PLAYING --SOMETIMES ONLY HAMMERING-- CHORDS ON HIS PIANO IN HIS MECHANIC MANNER, OFTEN
WITH A LOT OF ECHO AND FALSE CHORDS HERE AND THERE. ON THE OTHER SIDE, WE CAN HEAR A FEW SONGS GETTING BORN, IDEAS EVOLVING
FOR THE IMAGINE ALBUM, AS WELL AS REPRISALS FROM THE TIME OF HIS PREVIOUS JOB AS A BEATLE ('HELP' AND 'MAILMAN...'). JOHN
LENNON DOODLING ON THE PIANO, TRYING TO REMEMBER MELODY AND CHORDS, WITH OCCASIONAL YOKO HERE AND THERE. SOME OF THIS STUFF
WAS HEARD BEFORE, SOME NOT. THIS TAPE APPEARS MOSTLY UNEDITED. REMINDS ME SOMEWHAT OF PAUL'S PIANO TAPE(MISTRAL) - ONLY PAUL
HAS MORE SONGS, SINGS BETTER, PLAYS BETTER, PLAYS FASTER .... AND STILL BOTH RECORDINGS ARE SOMETHING THAT WAS CLEARLY NOT
MEANT TO BE HEARD BY ANYONE LATER

AND COMMERCIAL BREAKS WITH JOHN READING THE WEATHER.
LENNON, JOHN - THE FILLMORE TAPES WITH FRANK ZAPPA. THIS IS THE UNEDITED VERSION. IT RUNS 53:45 AND IS ON THE MASTER OF
ORANGE LABEL. 1 THIS IS THE AUDIO TUNE FROM A FILM, WHICH WAS SHOT ILLEGALLY BY FILLMORE HOUSE PHOTOGRAPHER AMALIE ROTHSCHILD.
SHE FILMED NEARLY THE WHOLE LENNON/ONO PART ON TWO 11 MINUTES ROLLS OF 16 MM FILM WITH A ZOOM LENSE FROM THE SOUND CABIN.
IT WAS LATER OBTAINED BACK BY THE LENNONS, BUT IS TRADED ON VIDEO AMONGST COLLECTORS. IT'S UNFORTUNATELY EDITED HERE. THE
WHOLE TAPE IS CA. 22,5 MIN INSTEAD OF 16:06. ON THIS CD SET IT MISSES MORE THAN 2 MIN AT THE START, AS WELL AS IN THE MIDDLE
& THE END. YOU CAN HEAR THE EDITS CLEARLY AT CA. 7:06 AND 14:06. 2 DEFINATELY PIRATED FROM FRANK ZAPPA'S REGULAR 2CD-SET

MISSES CA. 5 MIN AT START, AND A BUNCH OF STUFF AT END. YOU CAN HEAR 4 EDITS WITH SOME OVERLAPS. A MORE COMPLETE (DOUBLE AS

- OF COURSE YOU'D EXPECT THEM TO BE ADDED TO VIGOTONE'S ON-GOING SERIES EXAMINING THE RECORDED WORK OF JOHN WINSTON ONO LENNON,
MBE (RET.). THIS LATEST OFFERING IS ACTUALLY A COMPANION TO VIGOTONE'S EARLIER CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED 3CD SET JOHN LENNON: IMAGINE...
ALL THE OUTTAKES (VT118-120), THE THERE THE LISTENER WILL FIND AN IN-DEPTH EXAMINATION OF THE IMAGINE ALBUM, ALONG WITH A
BROAD RANGE OF ALTERNATE TAKES, REHEARSALS AND DEMOS. ON THIS SET WE OFFER A NARROWER FOCUS, EXAMINING A BIT MORE CLOSELY
THE ELEMENTS THAT GO INTO MAKING AN ALBUM -- NAMELY THE REHEARSALS AND OVERDUBS THAT MUST BE DONE AS PART OF THE WORKING MUSICIANS'
WORLD. ADMITTEDLY, THE REPETITIVE NATURE AND START AND STOP ELEMENTS DON'T ALWAYS LEND THEMSELVES TO THE CASUAL LISTENING
FOR PLEASURE THAT ONE MIGHT WANT AT TIMES, BUT AS A WAY OF LOOKING INTO THE MIND AND SOMETIMES THE HEART OF THE ARTISTS, THEY
CAN BE QUITE REVEALING. AFTER THE SEARING PERSONAL ANGUISH OF PLASTIC ONO BAND, LENNON RETURNED TO CALMER, MORE CONVENTIONAL
TERRITORY WTIH IMAGINE. WHILE THE ALBUM HAD A SOFTER SURFACE, IT STILL WAS ONLY SOMEWHAT LESS CONFESSIONAL. JOHN HAS STATED
THAT "THE FIRST RECORD WAS TOO REAL FOR PEOPLE, SO NOBODY BOUGHT IT. IMAGINE... BECAUSE IT IS SUGAR COATED IS ACCEPTED. NOW
I UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO." IF IMAGINE DOESN'T CUT AS DEEPLY AS POB, IT IS STILL A REMARKABLE COLLECTION OF SONGS THAT
LENNON WOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO BETTER AGAIN. ALTHOUGH SOME OF THESE TRACKS HAVE APPEARED BEFORE, THEY ARE OFFERED HERE IN MORE
COMPLETE FORM AND IN CORRECT SEQUENTIAL ORDER FROM A NEWLY ACQUIRED MONO MONITOR SOURCE TAPE. DISC ONE, TRACKS 1-16 HOW DO
YOU SLEEP? (REHEARSALS AND FILMING SESSION) FROM THE RECORDING SESSIONS AT THE LENNONS' TITTENHURST HOME, JOHN LEADS THE MUSICIANS
THROUGH SEVERAL REHEARSAL RUN-THROUGHS OF HIS SCATHING ODE TO HIS FORMER PARTNER. AS THE REHEARSALS PROCEED, ONE CAN HEAR
LENNON TAKING THE BAND SLOWLY THROUGH THE VARIOUS RIFF CHANGES, CHORD PROGRESSIONS AND NUANCES THAT HE OBVIOUSLY FELT THIS
SONG REQUIRED. AT THIS STAGE, MOST OF THE WORK IS GEARED TOWARD THE INSTRUMENTAL ELEMENTS OF THE SONG; WHEN HE DOES ADD VOCALS
THEY ARE OBVIOUSLY INTENDED JUST TO GUIDE THE PLAYERS THROUGH THE SONG AND NOT AS PROPER PERFORMANCES. ON AT LEAST ONE OCCASION
A SLATE NUMBER IS CALLED OUT FOR THE FILM CREW DOCUMENTING THE SESSIONS FOR AN ACCOMPANYING FILM VERSION OF THE ALBUM. SOME
OF THIS FOOTAGE WAS ALSO UTILIZED IN THE IMAGINE: JOHN LENNON DOCUMENTARY.(JOHN LENNON: ELECTRIC GUITAR AND PIANO; GEORGE
HARRISON: SLIDE GUITAR; NICKY HOPKINS: ELECTRIC PIANO; KLAUS VOORMAN: BASS; ALAN WHITE: DRUMS; UNKNOWN: ACOUSTIC GUITAR; UNKNOWN:
PIANO)TRACK 17 IMAGINE THIS VERSION OF IMAGINE FEATURES THE SAME BACKING AS THE RELEASED VERSION BUT HAS AN ALTERNATE VOCAL
MARKED TAKE 7. ALTHOUGH THIS IS THE SAME VERSION THAT OPENS LOST LENNON TAPES VOLUME 33, THIS IS ITS FIRST APPEARANCE FROM
A TAPE SOURCE. (JOHN LENNON: PIANO; KLAUS VOORMAN: BASS; ALAN WHITE: DRUMS)TRACK 18 HOW THIS TRACK LIKE THE PREVIOUS IS THE
SAME VERSION AS THAT WHICH APPEARED ON THE OFFICIAL IMAGINE ALBUM BUT WITH AN ALTERNATE VOCAL. THIS TAPE SOURCE VERSION SUPERCEDES
ITS PREVIOUS AVAILABILITY ON LOST LENNON TAPES VOLUME 14 WHICH WAS TAKEN FROM A VINYL TRANSCRIPTION DISC. (JOHN LENNON: PIANO;
JOHN BARHAM; ELECTRIC PIANO; KLAUS VOORMAN: BASS; ALAN WHITE: DRUMS)TRACK 19 I'M THE GREATEST THIS VERSION OF I'M THE GREATEST
IS DIFFERENT FROM THE ONE THAT APPEARED ON THE EARLIER VIGOTONE SET BUT IS FROM THE SAME SESSION. IT HAS APPEARED PREVIOUSLY
ON THE SCARSE AFTER THE REMEMBER CD, BUT IS TAKEN HERE FROM A SUPERIOR TAPE SOURCE. (JOHN LENNON: PIANO; KLAUS VOORMAN: BASS;
POSSIBLY ALAN WHITE: DRUMS)DISC TWO AFTER THE BASIC TRACKS FOR IMAGINE HAD BEEN RECORDED AT THE LENNONS' TITTENHURST ASCOT
SOUND STUDIOS, THEY WERE THEN SUBJECT TO OVERDUBBING SESSIONS AT RECORD PLANT IN NEW YORK CITY DURING JULY 1971. WHILE SOME
OF THE SONGS WERE JUST GIVEN STRING OVERDUBS, LENNON DESIRED SOME GRITTIER HORN SOUNDS ON TWO OF HIS HARDER-SOUNDING SONGS
ON THE ALBUM, IT'S SO HARD AND I DON'T WANT TO BE A SOLDIER. IT WAS ONLY NATURAL THAT FOR SOME AUTHENTIC R&B HORN PARTS
THAT LENNON SHOULD WANT A TOP-FLIGHT R&B ARTIST, AND IT (WASN'T) SO HARD TO FIND A GOOD ONE IN SAX PLAYER KING CURTIS.
KING CURTIS (BORN CURTIS OUSLEY) WAS THE LAST OF THE GREAT R&B TENOR SAX GREATS. HE CAME TO PROMINENCE IN THE MID-50'S
AS A SESSION MUSICIAN IN NEW YORK, RECORDING AT ONE TIME OR ANOTHER FOR MOST OF THE EAST COAST R&B LABELS. A LONG ASSOCIATION
WITH ATLANTIC/ACTO BEGAN IN 1958 AND HIS PLAYING IS HEARD ON HIT RECORDINGS BY THE COASTERS AMONG MANY OTHERS. HE RECORDED
SINGLES UNDER HIS OWN NAME FOR MANY SMALL LABELS IN THE 1950'S -- HIS OWN ACTO SESSIONS ('58/'59), THEN PRESTIGE/NEW JAZZ
AND PRESTIGE/TRUSOUND FOR JAZZ AND R&B ALBUMS IN 1960 AND 1961. IN 1962 CURTIS ALSO ENJOYED A #1 R&B HIT WITH SOUL
TWIST ON ENJOY RECORDS. HE ALSO CONTRIBUTED THE SAX SOLO ON BUDDY HOLLY'S REMINISCING, A SONG COVERED BY THE BEATLES IN THEIR
HAMBURG DAYS. CAPITOL SIGNED HIM FOR TWO YEARS, (1963-64) WHERE HE MAY HAVE COME INTO EARLY CONTACT WITH THE BEATLES THROUGH
COMMON LABEL CONNECTIONS. HE CERTAINLY MADE THEIR ACQUAINTANCE DURING THE BEATLES 1965 U.S. TOUR, APPEARING WITH THEM AT THEIR
FAMED SHEA STADIUM CONCERT. HE LATER LED ARETHA FRANKLIN'S BACKING BAND AND TOOK AN ACTIVE STUDIO ROLE AT ATLANTIC RECORDS,
CONTRACTING SESSIONS AND PRODUCING. HE WAS MURDERED A MONTH AFTER DOING OVERDUB WORK FOR THE IMAGINE ALBUM, STABBED TO DEATH
DURING A PUNCH-UP IN FRONT OF HIS APARTMENT. IT WAS FRIDAY THE 13TH, AUGUST 1971. TRACKS 1-13 IT'S SO HARD AS EVIDENT FROM
THIS OFFLINE SESSION TAPE, LENNON IS IN A RELAXED, REFLECTIVE MOOD AS HE GREETS KING WITH REMEMBRANCES OF THEIR LAST MEETING
FROM THE SHEA STADIUM APPEARANCE. HE'S ALSO IN A PRODUCTIVE MOOD AS WORK BEGINS RIGHT AWAY ON THE OVERDUBS FOR IT'S SO HARD.
JOHN CLEARLY KNOWS WHAT HE WANTS ALTHOUGH, AS GEORGE MARTIN ONCE POINTED OUT, HE IS NOT AS TECHNICALLY EXPRESSIVE AS BROTHER
PAUL COULD BE. HENCE, HIS INSTRUCTIONS TO KING COME IN THE FORM OF A LOT OF "OOH-OOHS" AND "AH-AHS" AS HE TRIES TO VOCALIZE
THE PARTS HE WANTS FOR THE SONG. FORTUNATELY KING PICKS UP ON IT RATHER EFFORTLESSLY, SOON NAILING THE OPENING SAX BIT, AND
RIFFING THROUGHOUT THE NEXT COUPLE OF PLAYBACKS WITH AN EXCITED JOHN CALLING OUT DELIGHTED ENCOURAGEMENT ("...SOME GREAT STUFF
ON THE SOLO!") CERTAINLY A GOOD WORKING ATOMOSPHERE IS EVIDENT THIS DAY. TRACKS 14-23 I DON'T WANT TO BE A SOLDIER NEXT UP
COMES A FARILY STRAIGHTFORWARD STAB AT EVERYBODY'S FAVORITE TRACK ON THE ALBUM, AFTER FURTHER REMINISCING BY JOHN. THIS TIME
IT'S ABOUT THE SCARE THE BEATLES HAD ON STAGE IN THE BIBLE BELT DURING THE LAST 1966 TOUR, WITH FIREWORKS BEING THROWN AT
THE STAGE, AND EACH OF THE FABS LOOKING ABOUT TO SEE WHO HAD BEEN SHOT. JOHN SEEMS AMUSED AS HE REMEMBERS THINKING THAT RINGO
HAD GOT IT! AGAIN THE TAPE SHOWS WORK WAS DONE VERY EFFICIENTLY FOR WHAT WOULD PROVE TO BE ONE OF THE LAST RECORDING SESSIONS
FOR KING CURTIS. HE DELIVERS WHAT JOHN CALLS FOR DURING NUMEROUS PLAYBACKS... A TRUE PROFESSIONAL TO THE END. IN ALL, A BRIEF,
BUT INTERESTING "FLY ON THE WALL" LISTENING EXPERIENCE THAT CAN ONLY MAKE ONE APPRECIATE EVEN MORE ONE OF THE BEST POST-BEATLE
ALBUMS BY ANY OF THE FAB FOUR. WHAT MORE COULD ANYONE WANT?
LENNON, JOHN - IN MY LIFE (LENNON REMEMBERED) (2CDS)
LENNON, JOHN - IT'S NOT TOO BAD WITHOUT A DOUBT, THIS IS THE DISC OF 1997. WANT NEARLY 20 MINUTES OF UNHEARD STRAWBERRY
FIELDS FOREVER STUFF? THEN THIS DISC IS A MUST. NOT ONLY DO THE STUDIO TAKES SOUND BETTER THAN EVER BEFORE (AND THEY EVEN
APPEAR TO HAVE A LITTLE MORE OF STUDIO BANTER BEFORE/AFTER THE TAKES), WE FINALLY GET TO HEAR THOSE DEMOS MENTIONED BY SULPY
(THAT WERE ON THE MYSTERIOUS "ENTOMOLOGY" BOOTLEGGER PROMO DISC) AND EVEN MORE OF THEM! LET ME SAY THAT BEFORE THIS DISC,
WE ONLY KNEW THE SO-SO DEMOS. NOW WE GET TO HEAR THE GOOD ONES TOO, FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME!
LENNON, JOHN - IT'S HARD TO BE BUTTERFLIES (2CDS) THE RECORDINGS PRESENTED IN THIS TWO CD SET, THE FIRST RELEASE IN A PLANNED
SERIES TO CHRONICLE THE DOUBLE FANTASY / MILK AND HONEY SESSIONS, HAVE BEEN SOURCED FROM THE ORIGINAL TAPES COMPILED FOR THE
LOST LENNON TAPES RADIO SHOW, RATHER THAN FROM THE TAPES ACTUALLY USED FOR THE BROADCASTS. THUS THESE TAPES, UNLIKE OTHER
VERSIONS THAT HAVE BEEN FEATURED FROM THE BROADCAST, ARE COMPILED SESSION BY SESSION, RATHER THAN IN AN AD HOC MANNER. THE
TAPES HAVE BEEN COMPILED FROM A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT SOURCES: HOME DEMOS: RECORDED ON DOMESTIC CASSETTE RECORDERS BY JOHN,
SOMETIMES EMPLOYING THE SAME PRIMITIVE OVERDUB METHODOLOGY HE HAD USED BACK IN 1967 FOR HIS EARLY STRAWBERRY FIELDS FOREVER
DEMOS. PUT SIMPLY, JOHN WOULD PLAY ALONG TO A PREVIOUS RECORDING HE HAD MADE WHICH WAS BEING PLAYED ON A (DOMESTIC) CASSETTE
RECORDER. A SECOND (DOMESTIC) CASSETTE RECORDER WOULD BE EMPLOYED TO RECORD THE SUM TOTAL, EFFECTIVELY PRODUCING AN OVERDUB
ONTO THE ORIGINAL RECORDING. THE ONLY PROBLEM WAS THAT NOISE, HISS, REVERB AND LACK OF CLARITY WOULD ALL FEATURE PROMINENTLY
IN THESE RECORDINGS. JOHN, UNLIKE OTHER MUSICIANS WITH HIS EXPERIENCE AND FINANCIAL INDEPENDENCE, ALWAYS APPEARED TO BE MORE
CONCERNED ABOUT THE FEEL OF THE MUSIC RATHER THAN THE TECHNICAL ASPECTS OF THE RECORDINGS. STUDIO MULTITRACK RECORDINGS: STUDIO
MULTITRACK RECORDINGS HAVE BEEN SOURCED, INCLUDING BASIC RECORDINGS, MIX DOWNS, ALTERNATE VERSIONS, ALTERNATE MIXES, EDIT
VERSIONS & OVERDUB SESSIONS VOCAL BOOTH RECORDINGS: VOCAL BOOTH RECORDINGS ARE RECORDINGS MADE IN A SIMILAR MANNER TO
MONITOR MIXES OR EVEN THE TAPES USED FOR THE MAJORITY OF THE GET BACK SESSION BOOTLEGS, WHICH HAVE BEEN AVAILABLE OVER THE
YEARS. AN EXTERNAL MICROPHONE / RECORDING SYSTEM USED TO CAPTURE ON MAGNETIC TAPE THE PROCEEDINGS DURING A RECORDING SESSIONS
OR MIX DOWN SESSION. THEY ARE USUALLY NOT TAKEN (PATCHED IN) FROM THE CONTROL / MIXING DESK OR IN LINE WITH ANY INSTRUMENTATION.
THE SONGS THREE SONGS ARE FEATURED ON THIS FIRST TWO CD RELEASE: I'M STEPPING OUT, HARD TIMES ARE OVER AND EVERY MAN HAS A
WOMAN WHO LOVES HIM. I'M STEPPING OUT DEMOS, VOCAL BOOTH RECORDINGS IN MONO AND STEREO, STEREO MIX DOWNS FROM MASTER TAPES,
ALTERNATE VERSIONS ARE INTERSPERSED WITH CHOIR OVERDUB SESSIONS FOR HARD TIMES ARE OVER & EVERY MAN HAS A WOMAN WHO LOVES
HIM VOCAL OVERDUB SESSIONS AND VARIOUS MIXES WITH ALTERNATE LEAD VOCALISTS.

TAPES VOL 1. BASIC GOOD ROCK AND ROLL IS THE MAJOR THEME OF THIS INSTALLMENT OF THE LOST LENNON TAPES. TO KICK THINGS OFF,
JOHN AND THE ELEPHANTS MEMORY RIP THROUGH CHUCK BERRY'S ROLL OVER BEETHOVEN, CONTINUING ALONG IN THE SAME VEIN, THEY NEXT
TACKLE JERRY LEE LEWIS WITH A MEDLEY OF HIS NUMBERS WHOLE LOTTA SHAKIN' AND IT'LL BE ME. SOME NEVER BEFORE AIRED OUTTAKES
OF RADIO SPOTS FOR THE ONE TO ONE CONCERTS ARE NEXT. BEATLE JOHN AND ROLLING STONE MICK INTRODUCE JOHN'S BACK UP BAND ON THE
LEGENDARY ROLLING STONES ROCK'N ROLL CIRCUS (ERIC CLAPTON, LEAD - KEITH RICHARDS, BASS - MITCH MITCHELL, DRUMS - LENNON, RHYTHM).
AN INSTRUMENTAL JAM BY THAT LINE UP IS THEN PERFORMED. BUDDY HOLLY'S INFLUENCE ON JOHN IS IN EVIDENCE ON THE NEXT SONGS OF
THIS COLLECTION. FOR STARTERS WE GO BACK TO 1958 AND PRESENT THE ONE OF A KIND ACETATE BY THE QUARRYMEN (JOHN LEAD VOCAL)
THAT'LL BE THE DAY. UNFORTUNATELY ONLY THE BEGINNING AND ENDING OF THIS TRACK ARE AVAILABLE, BUT THE LEAST IT'S PRESENTED
HERE IN THE BEST QUALITY AND LONGEST VERSION TO DATE. THE NEXT GROUP OF SONGS (TRACKS 8-13) ALL ORIGINALLY MADE FAMOUS BY
HOLLY, WERE PERFORMED LIVE WITH ACOUSTIC GUITAR IN THE ST. REGIS HOTEL IN NEW YORK 1969. BUT THE REAL COUP ON THIS ALBUM IS
THE SOUNDTRACK TO THE OUTTAKES OF JOHN'S APPEARANCE IN BOB DYLAN'S FILM "EAT THE DOCUMENT".JOHN ONLY APPEARS IN THE FINISHED
FILM FOR A FEW SECONDS, BUT ALL OF THE DIALOGUE BETWEEN HIMSELF AND BOB THAT WAS FILMED IS PRESENTED HERE. YOU WON'T HEAR
THIS STUFF ON THE RADIO. DYLAN IS SUPRESSING IT AND WILL NOT ALLOW IT TO BE AIRED. HE PROBABLY DOESN'T LIKE THE PART WHERE
YOU CAN HEAR HIM VOMIT. THE TWO FINAL TRACKS ON THE ALBUM ARE SOME OF JOHN'S BOB DYLAN PARODIES.

VERSION OF "STAND BY ME" IS EDITED FROM TAKE 1 & 2, ONE CAN WATCH IT IN THE VIDEO. TRACKS 3 & 4 "OLD GREY WHISTLE
TEST" REHEARSAL VERSION # 1. TR. 3 "STAND BY ME" IS TRUE STEREO WITH LENNON'S VOICE IN THE RIGHT CHANNEL AND THE BACKING TRACKS
LEFT. SIGNIFICANT ALTERNATIVE PARTS ARE AT 2:30 "HELLO JULIAN, MY LOVE, MY ONE ..." AND AT 3:15 THE "HELLO TO ALL THE FOLKS
IN ENGLAND" IS MISSING. THAT VERSION WAS TRANSMITTED IN THE LOST LENNON TAPES RADIOS SHOWS AND 1ST PRESUMABLY TAKE 1, WAS
BOOTLEGGED BEFORE(SEE ALSO "THE 910 OUTTAKES GUIDE"). LATER IN EARLY 1997 ALSO RELEASED IN BETTER SOUND QUALITY ON THE LP
THE LOST LENNON TAPES VOL. 33. TR. 4 IS NOISY AND FADES OUT TOO EARLY, NOT STEREO. LENNON'S VOICE IS OFF MIKE, IMO NO ALTERNATE
