RE: Non-Identifying Information
A letter is written to the Register of Wills Office requesting non-identifying information. The address is: Register of Wills, Berks County Services Center, 633 Court Street, Reading PA 19601. Once the letter is received, an order is prepared and presented to the Orphans’ Court Judge to approve Berks County Children and Youth Services to review the file. Berks County Children and Youth Services reviews the file and is ordered to report back to the Court.
You may want to contact Berks County CYS to ask about their procedure. The contact person is Susann Hoke, Adoption Supervisor, Berks County CYS, 633 Court Street, Reading, PA 19601. When the order is signed by the judge, the Register of Wills no longer takes an active part in the process.
If a natural parent writes to our office in regard to a child’s adoption, we will place that letter into her file. Hopefully this will be of some assistance.
